Higgs speaks out about current situation at the club....

Last night was another hugely disappointing result for Bristol Rovers, and I know that nothing I can say at this point can make things better, but I can assure you that Mark and I, and everyone else at the club, will be working as hard as we can to try and turn this around.

I really do find it difficult to believe where we are, because at times this season we have shown what we are capable of, but the last few performances have simply not been good enough. We seem incapable of taking the qualities we show day in day out on the training field and replicating them for 90 minutes on the pitch.

It seems to me that when you are down on your luck everything that can go wrong will go wrong. I know we cannot keep making excuses, but we have had terrible misfortune when it comes to our injury list, with up to 60% of our wage budget on the treatment table at one point.

Although we now have a number of players returning to fitness, Tom Parkes has become the latest casualty to add to the list. Although we are extremely thankful that it is a bad sprain rather than a break, we still expect him to be out for a number of weeks â although we are still waiting to find out exactly how long.

We have also had to say goodbye to Neil Etheridge, who has been recalled by his parent club Fulham. I should like to thank him for all his efforts whilst he has been with us, and wish him all the very best in his career.

Another piece of unwelcome news from yesterday was the announcement that the Sainsburyâs planning meeting has been delayed again â this time until January 16th.

I know that this delay is disappointing and I share everyoneâs frustration that we now face another period of waiting, but it is out of our hands, this is not our application.

However, it is vitally important that Sainsburyâs get this application right before it goes in front of the committee. They have to make sure they get all the technical details right and that there are no issues outstanding before decision time is reached.

It is now unlikely that we will be able to build the stadium to our original time frame, which would have seen us move into the UWE Stadium at the start of the 2014/15 season, but we will be looking at ways to keep the delay to a minimum.

I know it is a difficult time to be a Bristol Rovers supporter at the moment, and I appreciate you are starting to lose patience, but I implore you to stick with us.

I know it is difficult but now is the time that we need to pull together and get behind the team. We will be doing everything we can to start making progress and make sure that once again you are proud to call yourself a Gashead.
