A manager with some stature and presence, he would be immense for the profile of the club and the team.

Is there ANY SAFC fan that wouldnt swap Hiddink for Bruce right now this afternoon?

I can't say I understand the hype of Hiddink if I'm honest. I reckon he's massively overrated by football fans. He got South Korea to a semi final with a load of dodgy refereeing performances in SK's favour. Then he got Australia out of a group they should've qualified fro then got knocked out by Italy after a credible performance. Euro 2008 beat a Robbenless Dutch side then got smashed by Spain (2nd time) in the semis. Failed to even qualify with a talented Russia side for WC2010 losing to Slovenia (or Slovakia?) and now he lost 3-0 at home to Croatia meaning he's failed to qualify for a major tournament for the 2nd time in a row. I don't think he's the right man for Sunderland, you need someone to stamp their influence on the club, like O'Neill did at Villa. Sunderland just seem rudderless at the moment , I cant see which particular style of play you're trying to implement or what your transfer policy is. You only have to look at your neighbours to see the difference having a long term plan makes.

Maybe overrated but id take him above Bruce any day. I'd love to have O'Neil.

Hiddink is a world class manager in every sense. I think any team that gets him to manage them would be privileged, he will deliver at every level. I can't see him going to a mid-table European club side simply because he will get better offers, but I think he will be looking at England in some capacity. He seemed to love his time at Chelsea and really got the backing of the entire team and fans whilst he was there, it would surprise me if Roman brought him in to replace AVB though considering the amount of effort and money it took to prize him away from his previous employer, but stranger things have happened.

I've said it before and I'll say it again though, I think the man for you guys is Mark Hughes. He gets good results from teams operating on a medium to good budget. I doubt he'd be great on a shoestring ala Sam Allardyce at Bolton back in the day and Hughes has proved he's not great when dealing with megabucks but his record at Blackburn and Fulham speaks for itself and that's why I think he'd do a fantastic job in the North East for you guys.
