Bild: Even though the English press joked after your first game that you had eaten too much sauerkraut? Schweini: Although I don’t really like to eat sauerkraut, I did introduce myself here as “Kraut”, because that’s what people here call Germans for fun. The English have a special sense of humour. I also immediately experienced this in the changing rooms when I was carrying two plates of food. My colleagues asked me, “Basti, what time is it?” hoping that that I would raise my arm to look at my watch.
I bet he's copped some right stick from the English lads good to see there's at least one German with a sense of humour.
To be fair, everything thing I've seen of him, from in front of the cameras, to social media, to his attitude on the pitch suggests he's a jolly sort of chap with a good sense of humour and a positive approach. Ofcourse back in the day you could imagine him as ideal for the SS, but these days his talents are more appropriate in a United midfield. No wonder he's smiling.
