Indeed they are Maestro, have to admit i am getting slightly excited but know there is a long way to go, as you rightly pointed out. The reason i put that was for your benefit as i knew you would misinterpret the thread!! It was mearly aimed at asking Lancs/WCP's thoughts now and not a dig at them in the slightest. Then i thought to myself, its nailed on ptc will jump to conclusions and have a dig at me as he can't resist!! Soooooooooo predictable!!
My opinion still hasn't changed. I don't think we will finish top two. If you'd told me we'd take four points from these four games I'd have bitten your arm off so to have seven points with one left to play is brilliant. But even if we are as good as the best in this league we will only keep up with them. I don't think we're capable of pulling away. We've played the same team for four games in a row now I think but we're going to get injuries and players going out and coming in in January and Stockdale will be recalled sooner or later. Definite progress but miles still to go.
Its great to see us getting some results but above all I feel like its the Ipswich of old again, I actually get excited on a saturday afternoon now and wished I could have gone today rather than not actually being that bothered like I have previous seasons. We are starting to get that domination of teams again, teams are starting to fear us and adapting their formations to combat ours rather than as it has been the past few years where we have had a negative mentality. I think thats what changed when ME came to the club, there was a change in Jim's mindset, he went from picking his best team and not worrying about the opposition to picking a team to combat the opposition. I'm sure we can all remember when Royle was in charge and when Jim nearly had a whole season unbeaten at home, clubs would come to us and play with only 1 striker. The past few years I've struggled to be able to tell that we are the home team as we are often pegged back into our own half. Thats changed now and I think even if we hadn't got the win today people would still have been positive because we played so well, which is what I was arguing about alot last season with the whole winning ugly thing. I think thats why the crowd continued to get behind the team even when we were 1-0 down because we were playing so well and building momentum!! It just feels like the Ipswich of old is back, after 3 years of mismanagement. I still have serious doubts about if we will be promoted this season but its great that we are making progress and finally heading in the right direction. My only concern is that we are heading there to soon, in a way I don't really want to see us go up this season. I think we need at least another year at this level so we can sustain a premiership place when we do get there!!
I agree with much what you say, itfc, but when we brought on the subs, just checked the frontmen of Ellington, JET, and Chops..I thought crikey, how good is that! And clearly half the layers are still getting 100% fit. And with Leaboots his old self, and good cover in most if not all positions, I say top 6 is surely on...and perhaps a strong play-off challenge. I am thinking 4th is achievable...and giving it a real go... But we have only started the season!
But your right Spanish I couldn't resist So this is by no means a dig. I feel sometimes, just sometimes you are a little rash in your thinking Spanish(hint of sarcasm)!!! But are you still of the same opinion that Jewell should be sacked??
