We all seem baffled that our talented midfielder hasnt been getting the game time we expected in recent months. Why is this? Well Herrera himself may be able to shed some light. Apparently by his own admission his attitude has been poor, hes missed team meetings and physio appointments. Hes also in court the day after we play Newcastle. If thats true, then LvG is 100% right not to play him.
Probably true - if his head's not straight about the match fixing thing then it's hard for the manager to risk him on the pitch. I remember how badly Evra's game was affected after the Suarez saga, and the slander and abuse that Liverpool threw his way afterwards.
In an interview recently. I cant find any links (have only googled Herrera and checked the first page ) hence the inclusion of apparently. Mark Ogdon says hes not playing because he is too creative.....
It could explain what is otherwise a baffling policy to not play him. Especially now Carrick is injured. He'd be very good alongside Blind IMO.
I find that hard to believe. He's relatively young, enjoys his football. Surely the best thing for getting his mind off the "off-field" bollox is to be busy training and playing??? Isn't that the message the manager should be giving him anyway? How many others have been accused in this alleged match-fixing and how many of them are not playing? I take it Zaragoza have suspended all their matches for the rest of the season as a result? Atletico Madrid captain Gabi who's also been named, seems to be unaffected, but maybe that's because of his manager.
BTW he was motm against Hull, our best performance of the season in every sense. It was an excellent performance and he was again pivotal in the next game when we beat Stoke. He then never starts another league game again (and that's before the match fixing was even mentioned). But then plays 90 mins against Yeovil???
