Hull City star Abel Hernandez banned from driving for six months please log in to view this image A Hull City football star has been banned from driving for six months. Abel Hernandez was caught breaking the speed limit four times in less than a month behind the wheel of his Mercedes C-Class. Hernandez, Hull City's top goal scorer this season, was disqualified for six months, received 12 points and has to pay £2,450 in fees and fines. The Uruguayan international originally received 24 points on the four offences in an earlier hearing after failing to attend court. But those convictions were reversed because he does not speak English and was not aware he received the court documents. Bill Waddington, representing Hernandez, said: "By failing to come to court on the speeding offences, the court automatically doubles the points you receive. "As such, Hernandez received six penalty points for every offence, instead of three. "Because he did not get the paperwork, we convinced the court to re-open all four of those cases." Three of the four offences happened on Spring Bank West near Brandesburton Street, where Hernandez was travelling close to 40mph in a 30mph zone. The fourth occurred in Lincoln, and all the violations took place between April 9 and May 1 this year. Hernandez pleaded guilty to all four speeding offences in Hull Magistrates Court on Wednesday and received 12 points. When a driver crosses the 12-point threshold, the judge has to decide whether to impose the minimum six-month driving ban. The decision rests on whether "exceptional hardship" would be caused. The court heard that hardship would be caused to the footballer but it would not be exceptional, so the ban was applied. A spokesman for Hull City said it was the club's policy not to comment on players' personal matters. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...tory-28249588-detail/story.html#ixzz3sgUwqgCq
Nor does the 'I dont speak English so I ignored it' argument. I'm pretty sure if it was me in his shoes I'd take it into the club and discuss with someone there. Do we still have a Player Liaison role as used to be filled by Dan Pratt? This was precisely for such instances.
Maybe he just got the wrong end of the stick when Bruce said we needed to collect as many points as possible?
Hernandez has picked up more points in less than a month than Aston Villa have all season. Guess they don't have speed cameras back in Uruguay then ?
