As no one really knows much about Hernandez I decided to ask some palermo fans what their opinions were of him, his strengths and if he is worth 12m euros etc - It dosent make for good reading!

"decent striker, good technique, could do more, too often injured, some 12 million too many"

"Strengths: fast, knows how to hold the position, and most importantly knows how to be lethal in front of goal.
weakness: is injured often, although in Palermo most of his injuries were a mystery and it seems that they were not actually real injuries but removals, but these are rumors, it is impossible to know for sure.
In conclusion, it is not worth 12 million.

"It 'a mediocre striker and does not have the head for being a professional footballer. Once it was quick, but over the years has weighed in as well has lost that quality. They also do not know how to use your right foot."

    "Sucks"

"few strengths. If HULL plays on the break can be good."

"The guy Has talent but was always stopped by injuries That Seems to Have Been Left Behind. He lost a bit of explosivity That he Had early in His career, in compensation Has built a good structure; good in front of door, a nice left: it's the classic player who sees the door without seeing it. "

"He's got good technique skills but gets injured Often I know you can not say he's remarkably reliable... Seems to be a good striker, at least When It's about penality kicks. He was agile and fast in the early past, now he's a little slower and more physically builded.
We actually do not know His true potential; the amount of time he spent with His teammates was not even half of the one he spent at His trusted hairdresser salon."

"Talented guy with poor character and frequent injuries"

"He has some good skills but he Also pays for lack of concentration During the 90 minutes ... He DECIDED for Himself to become a normal / mediocre player: with a little bit more of diligence and discipline he could have become a good striker .. .

"I think it's not worth the price Hull City paid for him ... But I'm happy because i think is a good deal for us"

"He went to the Hull like to wreeecking baaall! And now Abel will pay us oooff!"

"let him discover the harsh truth by themselves, do not ruin the surprise!"

    "THE WORST PLAYER"

"abel is the emblem of the player useless paid dear-considered much too"

They may just be bitter though as he said he would leave at the end of the season no matter what league they were in.

BTW sorry if I shouldn't have created a new thread - I'm quite new on this site :)

What do you mean 'no one really knows'? I've seen him play dozens of times.

It's all pretty accurate as well to be honest, no sour grapes. But as I've said many times, Coutinho was absolutely ****e at Inter - fans celebrated when he left - and he's looked nothing but good for Liverpool.

    We'll see.

Yeah I trust Bruce will know his true skill, just £10m is a lot for an unproven player. I would take those comments with a pinch of salt though, as they don't like him very much there. Hopefully he will show his true potential which it appears he hasn't shown - which is why teams like Benfica have shown interest. Hope the lad does well.

You may know a bit about him but the majority of city fans probably don't - myself included, so i thought it might provide a brief description of his qualities, which might not have been mentioned here already.

    Is Aluko worth £10-12m?

seems similar in attributes and the fact he's bulked up as well, with the extra muscle you lose the pace, both often injured, both similar ages.

also reminds me of Fraizer Campbell

I'd be worried about the attitude comments if he were coming to play under any other manager or into any other dressing room. The boss man knows how to play people to get the to gel an the squad seems like a solid bunch so he won't have anyone to dick about with.

Lets see if he can't get back to what he showed a few years ago. Hell, a move might be what he needs.

I think that's our best hope, that he'll be happier here. Palermo didn't work out so well for him, but let's hope Bruce can get the best from him. He's obviously considered to have potential but probably didn't get on with some people at Palermo.

A little surprising they are so negative about a player that stayed with them when they were relegated and then got the goals to get them promoted.

They're Italians. What do they know about loyalty?

Don't their tanks only have one gear? Reverse...

One thing for sure Brucey will get the best out of him, and given he was in Uruguays world cup squad is enough for me. If it works out then he'll be on his bike in a couple of years and we'll get a decent profit. Unfortunately the whole McCormack transfer at quoted £11m and Fulham have created over inflated prices in this window for strikers. By comparison to that transfer alone at face value the guy represents a potential steal. However no guarantees as we have learnt from the whole Prozzy scenario!

O/T but I do love the way we Brits talk as if we singlehandedly won WWI and WWII. From memory, in WWII wasnt it 500k British soldiers and civilians died compared to 19million Russians?

    Going O/T a bit...

You hear this a lot. But last time I looked the worlds top sprinters look pretty pumped. The distance runners are the slim ones. Surely you lose stamina with bulk.

    Lazy journalism..

yes, I think you have a valid point though, perhaps it's the light-footedness you lose

going further O/T, I wonder if footballers are becoming more brittle with the gym work they do, we seem to have more injuries these days than in the 80s..

What on earth has any of this got to do with signing a player?
