Just seems a bit disrespectful to me, after all the only thing that's changed is the name, the history remains.

Hes a bellend seeking publicity for his cause. Have left him a note highlighting that by doing this he is, in a roundabout way andeing to the fat man

hmmm... you don't seem to care about the name change (not a pop, just an observation). it is true that 'only' the name has changed (and the sign, and the roof, and the dugout) but do you not think that people are entitled to respond in the little way they can? be it by refusing to attend games or taking back something of theirs which they no longer want to be associated with the club they loved.

where do you come down on the tarmacing of the ashes btw?

I dont see how taking away a heritage stone in any way shape or form changes anything, but fair does if people want to be over dramatic and create more negative press then they can.

I'm not happy about the name change, in an ideal world we would keep the name and there would be no tacky signs plastered on the stadium but at the end of the day Mike Ashley runs this club and while he does theres nothing we can do but accept it and hope on the very small chance that there's reasoning behind it that will help the club in the long run with extra revenue etc...

None of the changes that have been made has changed any of our fantastic history, past memories or anything like that, its all still happened, its happening now and it will happen in the future, a name is just a name.

I dont like the idea of the ashes being tarmacced over mind, bit of a low blow and I wouldnt condone it for a second.

Dont give a flip about all that crap mate. I only care about what happens on the pitch. Leazes is leazes... Sjp is Sjp... Simples. Let the cockneys and the media knock one out over the window dressing and all the name changes.
Dont forget... The history books reflect the league positions and not the local politics at the time.... Fact.

I approve of the name change so long as we see that money spent on a player!

ashley will replace it with an SD one man, don't worry.

not think it's a bit silly to say something is a bit silly just because you don't subscribe to their way of thinking (that the club and all of its history are one and the same) albert?

It's a bit sad doing something like that on a whim.
No doubt once we start getting results he'll realise how much he's embarrassed himself and the memory of his father.

Put it this way, I think Harry wouldn't give a **** over a latest negative news story in a November month about 10 years later. As long as his name is part of the ground of Newcastle United Football club he'd be happy.

It's not like Mike Ashleys set fire to the history books, at least I hope not anyway...

It would be more of a small pamphlet rather than a book.... However I do see your point.

Please don't start on the tarmaccing the ashes thing again. Pitches are relaid, stands are refurbished, surfaces are resurfaced. It's the risk you take in scattering your ashes in a constantly moving (outdoor!) workplace. They also get rained on, snowed on, and swept away with the grit every winter...
