on his birthday, and any other old rangers supporters up there, watching down on us. Shaking their heads. Cheers Dad. X
Great stuff, Farflung ................... our old men may be gone but we think of them daily ................ enjoyed many a good time together and are thankful of the time we shared with them. To the 'Old Boys' Club .............. we salute you. Aussie
My own Dad, a lifelong R, as was his Dad, passed away in 1993. I remember when he took me to my first R's game at Bournemouth in 1966-67 season with Rod.......neeeeeeee playing. Aged 12, proudly wearing my QPR rosette & scarf, holding a blue & white painted WWII ARP rattle, initially I felt a bit intimidated by Dad's rather loud behaviour packed in amongst the home fans. I recall lots of, "you dirty dog", "dirty devil", "get stuck in there", "pull your finger out", "take him out", "lovely boy", "lovely stuff", "goal", "look at Rodney". Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic v Queens Park Rangers, 15 October 1966 Score 3-1 to Queens Park Rangers Competition League Division Three Attendance 12,164 please log in to view this image It was a great day out all those years ago. I see that was a 30 goal season for Rodney.
Here here, never a day goes by without thinking of my dad. Farther- a daughters first love & a sons first hero.
Thanks lads, and Kilburn that is beautiful, I've similar memories of being in the loft, on Dads shoulders, rosette on, rattle ready, calling out 'Rod-neeee'. Thanks again Dad X
