Liverpool & QPR Target £5.6m Celtic Striker Gary Hooper by The Newshound September 30th, 2012 Comments6 Anfield and Loftus Road sides keen on Parkhead forward. TransferMarketWeb claim that Liverpool & QPR have joined a host of interested parties keen on Celtic goal machine Gary Hooper. The Anfield side, who could well do with attacking additions, is also being pursued by Russia big spenders Zenit St Petersburg. Hooper netted 22 goals in his first season in Scotland and fired in 29 last term to help Celtic to an SPL title and he is a player Lennon will fight to keep hold of. There has been talk of a potential England call-up for the Harlow born striker and clearly a high-profile move South of the Border would help in pursuit of international recognition. QPR have struggled for form this term and despite the fact that Mark Hughes brought in a number of striking options in the summer, the West London side could certainly do with a player of Hooperâs consistency. Having seen Andy Johnson ruled out for the season there is an even greater need to consider a January addition to boost the Super Hoops firepower. Rodgers has been left with just Luis Suarez and Fabio Borini as recognised senior strikers and must look to youngsters like Adam Morgan to make an impact. The Liverpool boss may look to recall Andy Carroll from his loan spell at West Ham in January but is said to be looking for the Merseyside clubâs board to provide funds to remedy the situation when the transfer window re-opens.
