Young Man City winger signs till the end of the season ...............now let's start moaning about that . It seems to me that MM is either taking a look at him ready for next season or he believes that we can still trouble the play off spots so is bringing in some reinforcements to give it a good go.
Possibly also looking at Taylor replacements/ a longer term option for the Williams slot in the team. Either way it can only be a good thing he's signed.
I'd hope this is with a view to signing for next season although apparently according to reports Liverpool are interested in the guy, so not sure how realistic that is. Very clear to me that wingers were needed after watching us against Brighton, Hunt had a very poor game and Anderson was as he has been most of the season anonymous. For the Derby game i'd like to see Williams pushed out wide and Wordy pushed forward into that position behind the striker
Because he'll be costing us wages and were developing other team's players instead of our own. Been the same old story right the way through the Evans era. It might get us one or two results but long term it's detrimental. Simple as that.
One or two results like the all important new manager syndrome I keep hearing about... As I said it seems to me that MM has not given up on this season and is looking to add a touch more attacking guile to the team so I can't see much to moan about really, the window is closed so we can't buy anyone so what's the problem.
I do understand Hampy's point, but throwing youngsters in before they're ready can be detrimental. I think MM could put more trust in our own youths but we do have to trust his judgement from time to time. We also have players out on loan improving all the time and getting game time, it's just pat of the development cycle for all but the very very top youth players.
But wouldn't it be better for those players out on loan to be in our first team getting experience? If they're not good enough to come in to the side occasionally aged 18-20 they are unlikely to ever be good enough.
I'd love to agree 100% hampy, in an ideal world we would be producing so much talent we wouldn't have enough space in the first team, but, even for the best systems that can never be the case and the sad truth is our conveyor belt is in the first stages of being mended and we wont see the results for a good few seasons. Hewitt is the only one out on loan that I strongly feel should be here if we ever plan to use him as a RB but even he isnt setting the world alight, Marriot did very well in his first spell at Woking but from what ive heard has been very quiet in the second half of the season. Veseli - news on him has been few and far between. The Under 21s as a squad has won 2 games all season. As unfortunate as it is - to finish as high in the table as possible Smith and Hyam are the only youth products we have that are good enough.
