So looks like Arsene will make an offer for Henry to cover for Gervinho and Chamakh while they're at the ACON.

And you have to admit that purely as short-term backup ... you can do a hell of a lot worse.

This would be awesome, not just for Arsenal but the premier league as well! When Henry left for Spain one of the biggest icons and best players to grace the English went with him. I just hope he isn't too far off the player he once was; I would hate to see only a shadow player because he deserves to be remembered as one of the greatest ever Arsenal players.

As a Liverpool fan I have to say Henry is one of the main reasons Arsenal are my second team! I have tried not to give in to this temptation but alas it has proved too difficult! Bergkamp, Henry and Wenger are the main reasons I really got to love Arsenal(not as much as Liverpool), all of them legends, humble beings and geniuses. I really hope if he comes back it will be a fitting swansong!!!!

Oh dear. Wenger's getting nostalgic. What next, asking Winterburn and Dixon to unretire, as cover for the full backs?

It's a low risk, low cost move if pulled off but remember Henry is 34 now and it's been almost 5 years since he last wore an Arsenal shirt.
Shanks makes the point about now wanting Henry to be a shadow of his former self, I don't think he'll be that bad but he certainly won't be the player that left us, age and playing in a weak league will have affected the influence he can have on games.
He'll be used as an impact player, 20 mins a game I expect

To be fair, the comparison doesn't stand up. Henry can still do a job. <ok>

    Robby <ok>

I think RVP will still be the main man. Henry might be used as an impact sub, or in FA cup games. He's been training all winter with the squad, so I think he might slot into the team again quite quickly.

As a 2 month loan deal goes, this makes a lot of sense <ok>

Win win situation i think. He will do either things, help us on the pitch or help us in the dressing room. Just imagine the influence he'll have on players like OXO, Ramsey, Walcott, Miyachi, Frimpong and Wilshere? His appearance should give the team a morale boost and hopefully teach our new front men - Oxo and Miyachi a thing or two.

However, Wenger still needs a mini clearout and bring in a quality CF to rotate/partner/replace RVP.

Lazarus - mini clearout may be needed but I think that can only happen in the Summer, if anyone is stupid enough to offer us reasonable money for Arshavin then I think it's time we packed him off, other than that everyone could be needed in the second half of the season.
Henry plugs a gap whilst ACN is taking place so it works perfectly for AW without having to buy cover, the big name partner for RVP is unlikely to arrive until the end of the season IMO.
What worries me is that the Summer sees a Euro Championship start in early June which means many players will literally finish their club season and disappear off to their National sides leaving virtually no time to get a deal done, so we could be in for another last gasp deal when next season's already underway...

Any chance that Henry might kinda spoil his legacy with a return to Arsenal? I definitely felt that way about Fowler's return to Liverpool.

This is the best news of the season so far to me. Henry has technical ability and doesn't rely on pace, his skill and trickery on the ball and his finishing are second to none.

There are many players who don't rely on pace but played at the top level. Hoddle, Sheringham, Eduardo, VDV, Zola etc etc no pace but they didn't need it to be deadly.

Sheringham's a good example actually, he was still playing in the premier lge at 40.

Henrik Larsson was 36 when he was loaned to Man Utd - he did a great job there.

A completely logical move imo. A legend returns! Henry's influence is so underrated even if he does not have the pace of a greyhound anymore. There are enough players on the pitch to do the running for him. His technical ability and also his ability to read the game are still at the highest level. What number will he wear? seeing as Theo wears the 14 shirt now. I'm not expecting miracles from him, just a solid dependable player who can still do a fantastic job for Arsenal, if thats in the form of an impact player, so be it! I'd like to see him in an Arsenal shirt again.

That's true but i would try and get rid of Chamakh and Squishy if possible. They bring nothing, i mean nothing to the table at the moment.

It's a shame that the borefest of International football is returning, it always messes everything up!
