Greetings Gunners! Canary here in absolute peace. I've enquired before but I'd be interested to hear your opinions on young henri Lansbury. The consensus in the past has been lansbury isn't good enough to break into the Arsenal first team (Although he's desperate to do so) so heres my questions: Do you rate Lansbury/like to see him stay? Could Norwich buy Lansbury (because I believe we would)? How much? Cheers Gunners, have a good pre-season.
Think he's a good player but to break in to the 1st team he will have to prove he is better than the likes of Fabregas and Wilshire and that may be beyond him
he won't break into the 1st team as a regular this season, unless no-one is brought in and he plays backup to Wilshere. For this he would have to force his way ahead of Diaby, which is possible, as Diaby will most likely be backup to Song if no other players are brought in. At present, it seems Ramsey & Cesc, Wilshere & Lansbury, Song & Diaby are the pairings for midfield. I don't think he will be sold, I'd expect him to sign a new deal fairly soon if he is in Wengers plans. It would be a huge shame if he left, as he's one of the youngsters that is held in the highest regard by Arsenal fans as a future prospect. He had glandular fever which wrecked him for a year or more, and is starting to get up to the level he should be at now. He's a great prospect, and I'd like to see him playing next season, either on loan or in and around the first team to kick on, and really challenge the season after.
not great i don't think. he's said he'll only sign a contract if he's going to get 1st team chances, otherwise i assume he'll have to be sold. so if he signs a contract that indicates that he's going to be playing for Arsenal. Personally I'm hoping he signs, gets all the early Carling & FA Cup matches, and proves his worth. He's good enough for the bench now, especially if Denilson & Rosicky leave.
I personally think it would be a good idea, it would give him the prem experience at a club he's familiar with. However, I'm not sure if it'll happen as we may very well want him for our first team next season as a fringe player.
He's got the opportunity to replace Denilson. I don't think he'll ever be on the level of Fabregas but he's likened again and again to Ray Parlour. If Lansbury is happy to play the role of Parlour then I can see a very bright future. I like him. He's our product through and through, like Wilshere, he seems to have a great eye for a pass and works very hard. He's the sort of player who could captain when we rotate sides (in a few years, obviously) and fit in the squad where needed. I'm glad you guys want him though, I've only heard good things about him at Norwich and that's encouraging.
He needs to be given the chance and a run of games which, nowadays especially, is a lot easier said than done. A loan to Norwich wouldn't be too bad an idea actually.
