Just a thought. Growing maturity and clear impact when on the pitch. England u21 captain in the past.
Hendo is a good shout. I always like a defender to be captain personally - Shame Lovren is a newbie, because he has the qualities needed. Maybe Lovren will be our captain one day. But yeah I reckon Hendo for vice is most likely.
i'm a meh.... it could push him on in temrs of showing example and such but equally it could push him to over complicating his game. For me vice captain is a whatever. pass the arm band effort and so forth. Lovern is captain material... prob that the first team and say who's not suited rather than who is. e.g. mingolet johnsopuke enrique coutinho sterling sturridge skertl? so really that says a lot. I'd not make a man of them a captain. Ok henderson or lovern it is.
Not for me - he's too much of a joker (in a good way). We need someone that is serious as **** when it comes to training/dressing room etc.
i would make lovren vice captain personally, he has the experience. i know a lot would like to give it to hendo, but this would be a good test of what his mental state is if he doesn't get it, hopefully he would put his head down get on with it and improve, then when gerrard goes he could become vice then with being a better player and wiser with more experience at the top level hopefully.
Craig Bellamy at Cardiff. I think Lovren needs to get to know his team mates properly first and earn there respect. Lallana was Saints captain.
sturridge is too selfish... can never see him in a huddle inspriing others and reinforcing the managers messgae. the lovern stuff is just to wind up saints.
You've not got many options really; Lovren, Lallana, Sakho, Henderson, Skrtel or Lucas. Lucas may well be off soon and doesn't play much anyway, Skrtel isn't very vocal, Lovren and Lallana have only just joined (although other players have been made captain/vice at other teams this early), Sakho needs to get himself settled first (this season I believe he will do) so....Hendo it is.
The vice-captain role will be extra important this season as Gerrard won't play every game. I'd give it to Hendo. However, of Toure is on the pitch then don't be surprised if he gets it. Similarly with Skrtel
Havent we had two vice captains in the past? Hendo for me at the moment. Has matured well over the past season and seems to be of similar mould to Steve Gerrard. Could look at Lalana or Lovren as second vice captain and see how they perform. Big issue this season as I can see it potentially being Stevies last full season with us.
Erm, as far as I'm aware, Agger hasn't been sold yet and I've not actually seen anything other than the thread on here suggesting he's on his way?
There is no evidence of Sturridge being a selfish person apart from the myth created by the papers when he was at Chelsea. Just because he asked for a lot of money from two of the worlds richest clubs and because he sometimes doesn't pass when he should, it doesn't make him a selfish person.
Not suggesting Agger is off either but his position in the team is being questioned by the arrival of Lovren, his injury record and his age. Henderson likely to get more game time than Agger. Gerrard will not play every game this season so its a valid debate.
True but even if he does stay, we'll need another captain since Gerrard's old and Dagger is injury prone
Selfish on the pitch. Can't see him being an inspirational person during the games and has shown no signs of being so. Not a bad thing, some people aren't captain material.
Henderson will play virtually every game when fit. The only other player I expect the same from is Mignolet. Lovren may well achieve that status quickly.
