    Hi

After the way both sets of fans pulled together last year I thought I might bring this to your attention.

I know a lot of you chipped in when my son cycled from Leeds to Berlin in 2013 to help to get him and his mates up to £27K for Sense. Hope you can help out.

You might have seen the story about a Sunderland fan from Italy who is cycling from his home in Italy, over 2000 Km, to the first game of the season and in the process raising funds for the disabaled girl who is the official mascot of the Italian branch of the supporters club.

Here is the link to his charity site.

and the article in the Echo:

I'll sticky this for you fella.
I'll also throw a few quid in when I'm at a PC.
That's a lot of miles the lad is cycling. Fair play to him.

If you can explain to me why him cycling 2000km, to get to a game, rather than taking a plane like everybody else, achieves anything with regards helping this little girl beyond his own vanity, I will gladly donate. If he spent that time working flat out, missed the ****ing game and donated all the money from his wages to charity, then I'd ****ing gladly donate.

This isn't a dig at your effort washy, or about it being Sunderland related, but I don't like the "I'm going to do something I want to do, and tag a charitable cause to it to make myself feel better" **** people do. It makes me feel like:
    a) These people don't believe that simply raising awareness through social media etc is enough to strike a chord with people, as if we don't give two ****s unless they climb a mountain, row a boat, walk somewhere, cycle bla bla bla. Nonsense. What the Sunderland fans did for the crash victim's families was amazing, and done in the right manner, good on them.
    b) They do it out of their own self-interest and self-promotion.

I know someone who climbed Everest "for charity"... No mate, you didn't. He always wanted to climb Everest. He "raised £10K".... Well done, the whole trip cost you £10k you daft prick. Seems like someone who had a charity at heart would have donated the money instead of gone on the trip, AND then asked for donations, and that person would have raised more ****ing money, even if they'd have got £1 from elsewhere.

    Those are my thoughts.
