Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone could help with a request of mine. I am doing a bit of research on my local team Harrogate Town AFC and noticed in 1919 that we had a player with the surname of Dean (or Deans - the paper kept switching between the two) that joined us and had played for both Portsmouth and Sheffield Wednesday previously. I was hoping that one of your historians or someone in the know might be able to furnish a first name to go with the little info that I have. www.worldfootball.net/teams/portsmouth-fc/10/ Have looked at above site, Researcher, and sorry to say there is no mention of a player called Dean or Deans having played for Pompey in the past. Doesn't mean to say he wasn't ever on Pompey's books, but safe to say he never made the first team
I've just dug out my official guide to Pompey's Football League Players to see if there's any Dean or Deans mentioned there but there isn't. The closest thing to it is Stephen Dearn but he played for Pompey during a period between 1923 and 1926 so he's obviously not what your looking for.
