Hello all, finally making my 'not' debut! Good to be here at last. Can I also just take the opportunity to explain to anyone who was following me, or I was following, on twitter why their followers dropped by one this week. My girlfriend decided I was 'flirting' with someone and deleted the account. I am much closer to being single than I was this time last week! In twitter speak #scarypossessivefreak
Hi guy's, it's alright for you lot to laugh, I'm genuinely slightly scared of dumping her now I wouldnt have minded so much if she'd actually caught me doing anything. I'll have to set up a new account, don't think I'll tell her this time though! Anyway, down to serious stuff, early signs are looking good for our Prem prep, aren't they?
It looks ruthlessly efficient! Front to back! Get the strikeforce sorted then work our way back. Squad will be sorted early. Good news all round.
Don't think I can remember such early preperation. It's just Lambert all over, dot every 'i', cross every 't', no room for sentiment. What I'd like next though is a more mobile centre-back. Total faith in both Barnett and Whitbread, and Ward is steady enough, but there were times when we looked to be turned a little easily last season. Perhaps that was more to do with the diamond exposing the defence, but if there's a weakness there, it'll be ruthlessly exploited in the Prem.
Alot more solid than our last Premiership defence though, that's for sure. We probably need a right back as cover for Martin and a centre back. Had been hoping we might go in for Billy Jones but West Brom have snapped him up. I happen to think Ward is far more reliable than Whitbread. I like Whitbread but he moves too slowly and can be slow to react to the danger at times. Ward was immense in the Pompey game, with the exception of Jackson (obviously) I thought he was our best player.
My real concern with Ward is consistency. When he's good he looks great, I just have this nagging doubt. Wouldn't swap him for Simon Charlton or the Doc though!
