Afternoon Swans Looks like Keith Andrews is a target for both our clubs, and apart from the obvious league positions, was wondering what there is to do in Swansea, and surrounding area's that would appeal to young professional footballers to join you
You visit our forum regularly enough, lad... And ellandback, be prepared for a stunning account of how Swansea's only seven hours away from Birmingham and how there's some nice countryside and beaches or something. Obviously all that is what young footballers of the 21st century are looking for, so there's no point disputing it.
You'd be better off stating what wouldn't appeal as there are too many positives imho... I'll give some a go though...... - Great Club with close family spirit - Great Manager who is renowned for developing young players - A Club that has moved forward year on year - More of an opportunity to play 1st team regular Premier League Football, vs likes of the Big Guns. - Warm and Welcoming people - Normality and being away from the circus that is, in places like London and Manchester (no offence meant) - Fantastic Coast Line - More property for your buck - Lower Cost of Living Could keep going, but you get the picture.... Good Luck with the rest of your season....
On a Saturday night we watch the football league show after watching live premiership games in the afternoon
i have'nt bothered reading that, i was just on our home website and brendan(our manager) stated we're not after him, i think he knows what's going on.
ellandback - I answered your question and at the bottom wished you luck for the rest of the season, what more do you expect? Maybe if you gave people a chance then they may surprise you... I know there are a few toss-pots in Swansea just like elsewhere, but in general we are renowned for being kind, warm and welcoming down this neck of the woods... On the other hand, we don't take any shlte either nor stand for arrogant c@cks. Enjoy the rest of your season and again, good luck in your campaign
Thought I'd provide a neutral perspective - if nobody objects (doing it even if you do) My other half is from a small town about 15 miles from Swansea with the almost unpronounceable name of Ystraddgynlais ... both her brothers are Swans (and Ospreys) fans - in terms of what the area offers - Very up and coming part of the UK - development of swish apartments, Hotels, bars, restaurants etc around Swansea bay - also near the footie ground (the Morifa). Good night life (including the pubs along the Mumbles mile - great pub crawl) - but the real attraction is the close proximity to both the Gower peninsular (amazing beaches in Summer) and the Brecon Beacons (pretty good all year). Ferry to Cork - plus, I have to say, despite many warnings of dire (or should that be dai-er) consequences if overheard being English - the locals have been nothing but warm and friendly, certainly in terms of the various pubs I've drunk in. The sense of humour is excellent and (with the possible exception of anything to do with Cardiff) well balanced .. can't fault.
Been to Leeds once, never again. I have to say the locals were ok but **** me the women are ugly up that neck of the woods !! the amount of fat ugly women running around,it was like an episode of Its A Knockout Swansea isnt exactly the kings road when it comes to fashion but go to Leeds and you look and feel like a Million Dollers, even if you only shopped in Primark before you left Massive football club though apparently
To be fair mate British women aren't much to write home about whichever part of the country you visit. If they're not overweight(which a quarter of them are) they're foul-mouthed, uncouth, drink too much and have no class whatsoever. Obviously there are exceptions but they're few & far between so don't go singling out Leeds as Swansea is no better. Go to Italy or France if you want a woman with class. You won't find them pissed in the gutter on a Saturday night as you would in any British city, including Swansea & Leeds.
