I am just looking ahead to your visit to Priestfield next week.

Although some of you may know I run a prediction league, you might not know that sometimes I also write articles (not always for this site).

Just wondering what your thoughts are before the game, how many you expect to bring?

Along with thoughts on your season so far, players (best and worse), manager etc.

Would welcome a general consensus of the fans on the above, along with your own individual opinion.

    Views please...

    thanks

Our season has been extremely disapointing and to think we were one of the favorites to go up there hasn't been to much to shout about so far except maybe last weekends win over totton which we hope will start us on a run of some good results, we've yet to win two games in a row this season and we haven't done this since at least march I think it is and with Swindon tomorrow it's most likely this trend will continue. There's been a few good signings Lee Brown and Matty Harrold are the two that stand out for me and Muzzy Carayol and Joe Anyinsah have showed glimpses of magic at times and were both outsyanding in the FA Cup for us last sunday. As for the game next weeks game I can see us taking 300 gasheads to the Preistfield but its a ground we don't normally get a result at, I myself have been there twice and seen a deafeat and a draw, if we a get ourselfs a tidy win at home to Swindon tomorrow then I would be happy with a draw at your place.

Thank you Gasheadseamge79, I appreciate your comments.

We are probably expecting our highest gate of the season for your visit, tickets are on a festive offer of £10 adult, £5 under-16's. Although sorry I do not know if this extends to away fans. Also Gills fans that get a ticket for this game are given priority in the allocation of tickets for the Stoke City Cup game in January, which I expect to be a sell out. Obviously if you have visited before you will know our crappy away stand is open to the elements.

Any more views welcome Gas fans.

last season was dire. buckle arrived in the summer who wasnt my 1st choice manager. however he said the right things and made some very good signings. it was a fresh start. nearly the whole squad from last season left. only 3 remains. buckle brought in 19/20 signings to date. the bookies made us 2nd favourites for a reason. we had a very good pre-season as well. won our 1st game live in front of the tv cameras. but since then its all gone tits up. the manager has fallen out publically with several players, having ago at the fans, making all the excuses for defeats like grass was too long <doh> he promised fast attacking football using out and out wingers. instead we got route 1 hoofball and a 38 year old mcgleish on 1 wing and zebroski on the other (both strikers). wasnt until recent weeks our manager decided to use a proper winger carayol who has been great. if only buckle played him from the start. if only he played the players in their right positions. if only!
along with poor tactics and bad management, we have suffered with so many injuries. its shocking how many we have had. that hasnt helped.
when we do get a good win and think we turned a corner, we go and cock it up big time the next game.
i think the current run in fa cup has papered over the cracks and i honestly think we will struggle to finish mid table. im not saying we have a god given right to go back up but we were so positive at the start and with the players we have individually i can see why the bvookies had us 2nd favourites. but the manager cant get us working as a team. we aint playing well. were playing crap. which is why our attendances has dropped by 2000 since the start of the season. fans are voting with their feet.
as regards to our game next week, i'll be very happy with a point but i cant see it happening. im hoping it gets called off to be honest <laugh>

CJS - although I know it was meant tongue in cheek, I certainly would not hope the game was called off, to much preparation on the ticket promotion front gone in to this game. - lol

In regards to the result, I will do my normal predictions after this weeks game, but you know me I never take anything for granted, a higher league position does not earn you the points, it is how we perform on the day that counts.

I think our 90 day loan signing Frank Nouble from West Ham, plays his last game for us against your lads. Obviously not forgetting Jo Kuffour but he obviously needs no introduction, guess Scally/Hessy will be coming to you for his signature in January.

i have mixed feelings on kuffour situation tied 3 ways.

1, he is still a rovers player. he has been on form for you. we have no striker in form. it will make very good sense to recall him back in our team. why should we be letting another team in our league benefit from him while his parent clubs struggle. he has a contract with us which he signed. he needs to man up about it. many people would give up their right arm to be a pro football and having a contract instead and not bitch and whinge like he has done and refused to play. tevez copied him!

2, at the same time, i see he clearly dont want to be in bristol which is why we loaned him out. if we force him back, he will either do a tevez and go awol or play crap on purpose which he did all last season. so why get him back here. i rather see our youngsters given a chance over someone who dont even care.

3, as he been crap over last season, showing no effort, we know what to expect from him. i hope he is allowed to play against us. we may stand more chance as he is crap <laugh>

I fear this may be so. I hope I am proved wrong tomorrow. If we
get hammered it could turn nasty.

And we hope that Kuffour is allowed to play against Rovers ..... and continue to produce the same brand of 'crap' football that he's shown us.

The Kuffor thing is an odd situation. My understanding is that Buckle has made it clear that Kuffor isn't part of his plan, hence why he was put on the list. I also understand that Kuffor never really settled at Rovers and wants a move back to London, whether that affected his form or if he has had personal issues with the staff previously I don't know. Either way I doubt he will return to Bristol and hopefully we can sign him up

he had potential for league 1 if he played to his abilities. but we didnt. when lambert left and as he was 4ft short, we were pumping the ball up to him which was never going to work. he never really had the service he needed to shine. he was pretty lazy when he didnt have the ball and more often than not he lost the ball when he had it. i do think with the right team, he could score a shed load in league 2.
