As I'm having problems with uploading the photos I've taken today (can be seen on Facebook), I'll share the link to my website once it's been updated. I've shared the one my son took off the TV as I love the score it is showing!

Firstly, I want to thank everyone for their support in buying our Billy Bremner badges today and if I didn’t manage to see you at the game, please note I will be getting some more shortly as they proved to be very popular. I will try and see those who have contacted me already at a home or away game but if not, will try and arrange for you to get them. As soon as I have the next ones, I will post on social media channels to inform everyone. All profits are going towards Billy’s statue in Raploch, Stirling.

I’ll admit my head was spinning by the time I got to Holbeck Working Men’s Club as texts were flying back and forth, and my daughter asked me to pick something up at the White Rose Centre. It was only when I went to reach for my camera to take a photo that I realised that a numpty called Heidi had left it on charge at home. Thankfully I was able to use my phone, but the distance ones aren’t as good as the ones I take using my camera. Thanks to all those sharing photos of me on the TV again today. They do like my beret that’s for sure plus I had a photographer ask to take a photo of the back of my head before the game.

The two announcements Leeds said they were making today were Johnny Giles getting a Lifetime Award for his services to the club before the game and Lucas Radebe being named as the latest Leeds United Ambassador at half time. Well deserved for both. If you haven’t got your tickets for the Paris 75 documentary that is having it’s Gala Premiere at the Showcase Cinema in Leeds on 9th October, please note that other dates have now been released too. I am looking forward to seeing this as I’ve never forgotten the injustice of that night of being robbed of our rightful trophy just like Salonika two years earlier. Not sure what my interview in the documentary will be like, but being at both those games meant I saw things first hand on the day.

Team: Darlow, Ampadu (captain), Rodon, Gudmundsson, Bogle, Aaronson, Calvert-Lewin, Longstaff, Stach, Struijk, Okafor.

Subs: Tanaka for Aaronson (87), Nmecha for Calvert-Lewin (90).

Subs not used: Meslier, Piroe, James, Gruev, Justin, Bijol.

Leeds drew the game 2-2 with Rodon equalising with a header (37) and Longstaff (54).

Attendance: 36,574, approx. 1900 Bournemouth fans.

    Referee: Michael Oliver.

    Booked: Aaronson, Ampadu.

Leeds started off with a couple of great chances that fell to Calvert-Lewin with the keeper making two saves as well as a header straight at the keeper. The saying you have to take your chances when they are there came back to haunt us, when Bournemouth won a soft free kick on the edge of the area. Despite a wall of four with Aaronson laid on the floor behind them, the ball went through everyone and into the back of the net. Whether our players thought the ball was going over them I don’t know because we jumped meaning it left a gap. If we’d have stood firm, we’d have blocked the ball. We didn’t give up although we did try and present them with another couple of goals by playing back to Darlow too much and they were within a whisker of getting the ball. Too close for comfort but when we play deep and pass back all the time, we invite the opposition to attack us. Once again, we got back into the game with a set piece when Rodon scored directly from a corner, heading the ball into the back of the net to equalise.

The second half saw Leeds take the lead after some great play by Gudmundsson keeping the ball in play on the bye line. Sheer persistence from him saw Okafor have a shot, then Aaronson, before the ball came to Longstaff to the left of the penalty area in front of the Kop. He hit a fantastic strike into the back of the net as Elland Road erupted. Everyone celebrated and we were waiting for the game to kick off again when a VAR check came onto the scoreboard. I’d totally forgotten about them but luckily, they didn’t wait long to give the goal. Harrison had a great shot saved by their keeper. With the minutes running down until the end of the game Tanaka was penalised when he lost the ball but there was no way he could get out of the way of their player anyway. Why we made a sub then I’ll never know as we took our eyes off the ball from the free kick as it went into the box before getting to their player at the back post who equalised. A bitter blow as so near but so far again with a couple of minutes to go. The positive is that we did get a point, and they didn’t beat us, but it was a disappointing ending. My man of the match today was Longstaff, and Aaronson played well today too.

No game is ever easy, but we have shown we can battle on the pitch and need to take that into our second home game next week against Spurs. See you then, LUFC – Marching on Together!
