Saw a hedgehog crossing the road at about 11pm last night. It was the third one I've seen in the road this week. I was in the car and it was quiet out so I slowed down to make sure I didn't run it over. They move quite slowly when there is no traffic coming but it scuttled off more quickly under some parked cars when I got nearer to it and then presumably it went and found a quiet garden or park to live in. What are your recent hedgehog experiences??

Love hedgehogs, used to get some in our garden. Not it meant to feed them milk and bread... Just water and insects.
I once rescued one on my way home from school that was near a busy road. I carried it home to put in our back garden but my mum told me off because I was covered in fleas and brought the hedgehog into the house
Thats not very nice @Red Hadron Collider My mum shoved a broom up its arse and then used it to clean the chimney very effectively
You're actually a couple of weeks late with this thread ......... http://www.britishhedgehogs.org.uk/?action=viewArticle&articleId=3
I didn't know you could get a hedgehog for your garden, that sounds cool. http://www.britishhedgehogs.org.uk/leaflets/L17-I-would-like-a-Hedgehog.pdf
Predators that are capable of killing a hedgehog, like badgers, can cause problems with populations locally. It's those damn badgers again...
Couple of photos to help DR identify whether a hedgehog is male or female. Apparently it is easy, you just check out the hat they are wearing as per the photos below. The first is female the second is male. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
