Both much the same so not really that bothered if one plays or the other. I do however think that Marshell dose edge it like you said above for being just that bit of a better shot stopper.
I feel a little for Heaton, unless Marshall has vastly improved on his corners, he may not be as good a shot stopper as Marshall, but Marshall scares the crap out of me when defending corners and crosses from wide positions. MM is the man in the know and I bow to his first hand knowledge of both keepers.
They'll both let goals in they should have stopped but there isn't a keeper alive who hasn't, so it's down to percentages. Marshall's cross aversion has become legendary, and Heaton's positional play has been questioned more than once Looking at it the other way, Marshall will probably STOP more goals that should have been scored by the opposition than Heaton will. Marshall for me by a small margin on that basis.
I went down on Saturday and thought that Marshall looked a lot better than last season. He was out of his box quickly, shouting and generally commanding his area alot better than before. Also Malky was shouting the odds could here him in the Ninan stand!! Made more noise in those 90 mins than Jones made in 6 years!!
Marshall for me. Do we have a new keeper coach in yet? If so maybe he could make the difference and improce Marshall's ability to deal with crosses. My worry is if we start with Miller and Earnie and Kiss/Gested are on the bench, we appear to have only 2 big guys in the team so will be vulnerable at set pieces (unles Marshall can improve). Who will do the role Bothroyd was so effective at in positioning at the front corner of the 6 yard box and clearing near post corners? Okay if Kiss and/or Gestede are on the park we have someone who can do that but without either then we could be in trouble. I'm assuming Parkin won't be an automatic in the normal 16 selected.
Marshall, is a better shot stopper, but not a lot in it, however I think Marshall has more potential, a bigger player physically and if he can get a bit more self belief when coming for crosses/corners then he could be our regular first choice, with Heaton as a capable back up
Not being funny Proph but surely the guy is past the "potential" stage; If he hasn't come for crosses by now I can't see him being comfotable doing it at any stage of his career. It has probably hampered his Scotland career as well.
