Fat Sam couldn't hear any anti-semitic chanting at Spurs. Benitez couldn't hear Chelsea fans wanting him out. Both said they never hear the fans chants as they are concentrating on the game. Strange that Nigel can hear us chanting his name without any difficulty. On par with Wengers terrible eyesight.
West Ham, West Ham...the FA are coming for you!! Although it would be nice for us, not a great fan of docking points as the league should be decided on the pitch (and yes, I do know you were joking).
Spurs themselves are loud and proud about their Jewish support (partly in self defence), but making a chant about the holocaust is offensive to Jews and every right-minded person.
Allardyce's response to the question was a disgrace frankly: http://www.sportinglife.com/video/23481/8285187/allardyce-coy-on-chants He should have just said "we'll release a statement in due course". Spurs fans need to get their own house in order as well though regarding the y-word chants.
I put this in another thread but will put it here too as My club needs defending on this: Mindless & embarrassing. Not our proudest day that's for sure. Actually I know a few guys that went and they said it was actually a little cluster of fans and most of our fans were frowning and shaking their heads. However, the press are going overboard with this as inappropriate chanting in football happens among many teams. I don't know why we are being singled out. Spurs fans taking the moral high ground on this need to look at themselves. Just a few off the top of my head: Wenger and Maddie chants, matthew Harding chants, Adebayor washing elephants chants. None of this makes our chants ok but it also takes away tottenhams right to be offended. Most teams have a section of these clowns and it is a real problem in football.
What about Matthew Hardings family? What about Arsene Wenger? What about Maddie McCanns family? What about the Racist abuse they gave Sol Campbell that drove him to depression? Someone is going to be offended with any of these kind of chants. I'm not saying our chants were ok, just that we shouldn't be being singled out.
No you shouldn't be singled out. I think the FA has been too lenient with clubs for years. They need to take severe action against clubs whose fans sing these kind of sick chants.
I agree. We deserve punishment without question but it is not just us. Tottenham fans calling us a disgrace is completely inappropriate.
The one's that have joined in with these chants in the past yes, but the ones who haven't? They have the right to feel insulted.
If this happened to us I'd be really angry. I don't understand what goes through people's heads. Anti-semitic chanting occurs at European football match. Everyone condemns it (and the violence). But a few people have the bright idea to repeat it the week later. It's just a small minority which is why there's no point fining the club, the people involved don't care.
Controversial perhaps, but chants about "shooting the pompey scum" aren't a million miles away from this kind of thing. You can see how this kind of behaviour becomes normal, would only require a few more steps for saints fans to get into trouble. You could say we're lucky Portsmouth isn't a notably Jewish area!
Oh come on, that's just a bit of fun. I sing that, but I don't actually mean it. Pompey fans sing similar things about us!
Which is exactly what the guilty West Ham fans will say, they joined in but they don't actually mean it. Or do you think that everyone who joins in with a racist chant is a racist?
