    Apparently saunas are for more than just relaxing in:

    "In a 2015 study, scientists from the University of Eastern Finland recorded the sauna bathing habits of 2,300 men, and tracked their health for more than two decades.

    They found that those who used saunas regularly suffered from dramatically fewer deaths from heart disease or stroke. In a follow-up study by the same group the following year, regular sauna sessions were found to substantially reduce the risk of dementia.

    Our latest research this year involved recording the habits and health of 1,621 men over 22 years. Having regular saunas (four to seven times a week) was shown to slash the risk of high blood pressure by almost 50%."

    Quite impressive figures although I take these studies with a pinch of salt.

    Anyway, just interested to dive into what you lot do to try and improve your physical health, whether it's a tiny little thing that you do from time to time or a lifestyle that you live daily.

    I've been trying to eat healthily for a year or so and I've been lifting weights for over ten years (arms are getting tired) so I'm not in bad nick but I'd like to hear any advice or whatever about anything you do to help your body out a bit.

    My back was gone. I couldn't complete a football match anymore or lift heavy weights, if I done any of those I wouldn't be able to stand up straight up for a week. I went along to pilates, I'm the only guy in the class but it's been amazing. My back has never felt stronger and I've got a much better posture now which I've naturally picked up from the classes. I'd highly recommend it to anybody.

    I've been training 5 days a week lately, gym 2 days, 1 day boxing and 2 days muay thai. I was in a hole a while back but it's going better than it has for a long time and I put it down to the amount of exercise I'm doing.

    Nice one mate, I'm a believer in exercise being good for the soul as well as the body. I don't like to have days off because a bit of tension grows although at the same time it's nice to be lazy.

    I've got a bad back too although not as bad as yours by the sounds. Me and the wife have got a 'yogalates' DVD which you can probably guess is a combination of yoga and pilates, still in its wrapper but if it'll help my back I'll deffo give it a go.

    Heat is great for back pains. So saunas and sunbed.

    The only time that I use saunas, or steam rooms, jacuzzis or swimming pools, is when I go with Mrs. A. to spa hotels (which is where I am now, as a part of 'special' birthday (from last friday - the same as Danny's) celebrations) and they definately help towards relaxation.

    Unfortunately, having regular saunas as mentioned by Nacho (four to seven times a week), is expensive, and beyond the means of most, so the people with the most disposable income will, theoretically, be healthier/live longer than us less well off folk :emoticon-0108-speec

    I believe that regular exercise is the most important part of keeping healthy/fit, and the continuance from an early age is the key to being able to do so.

    I 'do weights' daily (most days) and thoroughly enjoy playing football twice a week. I think that I'm able to do so because I never stopped playing (I'm not brilliant, but I can still play/compete to a decent standard) . . . . it must be far more difficult to start playing again after a long period of 'stagnation' :azn:

    So my advice is to 'stay 26' as long as possible because, psychologically, you can :emoticon-0105-wink:

    My backs knacked
    It effects my chest
    I try to walk a few miles a week but I sometimes struggle with that
    I’m now getting over a groin pain.
    However it doesn’t stop me drinking a few pints
    Nevertheless I’m trying to cut down on my drink reducing the times I go out drinking.
    I try to eat correctly but that’s difficult.
    I enjoy my holidays a few time every year and that doesn’t help my diet and I drink too much
    Ahh well I try I’m out again in a couple of hours I’ll try a one and a half mile walk.
    No drink until Monday I’ll keep off it over the week end.
    I was out on Tuesday about 8 pints my wife says far to many

    I eat a very health diet Monday to Thursday and basically eat and drink what I want between Friday and Sunday.
    I have a pretty active job so that helps to keep me fit and I also lift weights 3 to 4 times a week.
    I used to train Jiu jitsu but i just dont have the time anymore with work, joint custody of my boys and being in a relationship.
