...on a FREE. Not happy at all, think Brentford have negotiated a top deal there. And to Uwe Rosler? Urgh.

But, good luck to Hayes. Thought he was a very good league one player, and did well for us when selected.

Lazy lazy reporting by Iain Liddle! How can he possibly say

Leon Clarke is possibly the most garbage forward we have had at the Valley since Jeffers and there is NO WAY that Clarke was in front of Hayes in the pecking order!

    PS

I feel very sorry for Hayes, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. As much as I love Dr Sir Chris..... we treated Hayes badly and he deserved much better.

    Good luck Paul.

Agree that we seemed to treat him harshly. No idea if something happened between him and CP (Franco?), but it was a bizarre situation.

Thought Hayes was a good player, and if it wasn't for Kermogant signing he would have been first choice with BWP all season.

Free Transfer for him is a deal and a half. Was all over in my opinion when he scored 7 in 5 or whatever at Wycombe he recalled him and then sat him on the bench or not even that, was pathetic. Worried Sir Chris might be like curbs, can hold a grudge :/ Good Luck Hayes, just hope you don't score against us if we play Brentford again

Following someone who claims to be a former football agent, he/she tweeted yesterday that Paul Hayes was leaving today, and claims that a striker will sign for us today. Seeing as they got the first one right...

A lot of noise over the weekend about a player joining today. Over heard people saying this in Birmingham, though when it came to who a 1000 names and their dogs were mentioned.

I would be VERY surprised if it was anyone like Baldock.

My instinct is to worry about this. If we are letting Hayes go for free it means either that we are totally desperate to get his wages off the bill therefore we really are skint, or CP absolutely hates him and just wants rid. Some bloke posted a rumour on CL the other day that consisted of Hayes to brentford and Solly to Wet Sham. He got poo-pooed. Maybe he is right!!!!

Now maybe, just maybe, this is all part of a cunning plan and we will have a replacement lined up. I can't believe we are going to run with Kermit, BWP and Haynes (injured)with only Smith (not ready) and Waggy (not up to it)as back up. I'm not even mentioning Clarke. We should just give him away Dany n'guessan anybody? I actually think Hayes could have done a job in the championship. Goo luck to him anyway. We did not handle him well.

Haven't posted on here for a very long time but I was present at St. Andrews on Saturday and would like to share my pride of the way our team performed :)
If there is any unrest behind the scenes then these guys did not show it one bit, I'm loving the team spirit that seems to have carried over from last season. In all honesty I am sad to see Hayes depart. At the beginning of last season we were playing some great passing football with him in the side, and his early partnership with BWP was very encouraging. None of us could've predicted the impact Yann has had.
On a more serious note, I spoke to a relative of mine at the game on Sat and I wanted his opinion on why we have been short on the signings front. His words were that we are skint. I scoffed at his suggestion (I belive it is a lot more complex than that). He agreed with me that the money is definitely not coming from Jiminez or Slater. The one thing that does concern me is when I questioned why he thinks we are skint he replied that he attended the Orient game last week where a steward at the ground claimed that the money has gone, and that Powell had threatened to walk TWICE in the summer.

This type of internal scaremongering that has been going on, is really begin to grate on me. Nonetheless a positive start to the season at the weekend :)

he was one of the top earners last year and with the promotion increase clauses he probably had he would have been on a fair bit. everyone else would have got a pay rise too so whats probably happening is that its one out one in at the moment. gutted to loose him for free though.

would love to know why him and powell didnt get on.

    my money's on d'guessan signing.

I'd be very surprised about the CP threats - he has been discussing a new contract for the best part of the summer. Now I admit this has taken longer to sign than I expected, which suggests there could have been something to stall the deal, but I haven't been told that he has threatened to walk. I'll ask the question tomorrow night though, for sure.

This is all hypothetical mind. Maybe Baldock's wages were too high and Hayes moving on will help to contribute to this. CAFC twitter seems to imply alot going on today

While Hayes was definitely worth a fee, going on a free should have enabled him to negotiate a good contract at Brentford. This helps to recompense him for Charlton having wasting a year out of his career. Wish him all the best. Should be a force in League One.

Just read Roslers comments - thanks Hayes over and over, but nothing to us for giving him to them. I really hate that man, full of ****.

I don't think we wasted his year. He looked done at Preston, came in to little enthusiasm from fans, proved everyone wrong. Then got outplayed by Kermo, went on loan & banged them in. Showed him off as a valuable L1 player, which he looked far from leaving Preston, he wouldn't be earning this contract without last season in my view. He played his important part in our promotion.

Shame we didn't want to keep him, or convince him of a suitable role, solid pro, skilled & very useful. All the luck to him. He deserves it.

I'm mystified by his treatment. Can't see what he did wrong, so good luck to him.
