Results in the National League South today mean that Havant & Waterlooville are now just three points off the top with three games in hand. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/national-league-south/table I wonder of they and Pompey could manage a double promotion. This would see the Hawks renew their rivalry with Eastleigh, and if the Saints can oblige us with being relegated as well.............
Hampshire as a whole is rather weak in terms of its football teams in the hierarchy. The "Hawks" are in a borough of over 100,000 people, which is similar in size to Burnley, while Gosport and Fareham are similar sized if not bigger sized towns than many a EFL club such as Fleetwood, Morecambe, and I dare say Burton. Looking at things from this angle, our clubs in non-league and the league are under-achievers. It would help both SFC and PFC to have, lets say Eastleigh getting into the FL and maybe rising to L1 level.
While Pompey slide toward a mid-table mediocre finish (barring a quick turn around in fortunes) the Hawks have now gone top of the league, with a win at Oxford City, while Dartford lost at home to Poole Town. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/national-league-south/table
Just hope Lee Bradbury can keep them playing well, and winning matches. Be great to see them get promoted to the National League, especially as champions
...and to think that, if we were still languishing in League Two, they'd only be a division below us!
Four games to go and Dartford are top on goal difference, +32 to +31. They've scored and conceded a lot more goals so equal goal difference would see the Hawks miss out on goals scored. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/national-league-south/table Remaining Fixtures: Dartford: Eastbourne (A), East Thurrock (A), Bath (H), Bognor (A) Hawks: St Albans (H), Chelmsford (A), East Thurrock (H), Concord R (H)
The Hawks are at home to St Albans tomorrow, and possibly playing for the away team could be Lee Bradbury's son Harvey (ex Pompey academy striker) who is on loan from Watford. He scored for St Albans against Bognor Regis in their last game. Could be interesting...........
