I know we are on a high at the moment Cup final, and out the bottom 3 !!! Gus is performing miracles near enough every time we play!

We need about 15 new players.

By my thinking we only have 8-10 "first team players" whose contracts don't expire in the summer, obviously out the door or are on loan.
Maybe more .... ( am i missing a whole bunch?)

    Mannone
    O'shea
    Brown
    Catts
    Fletch
    Jonno
    Jozy
Soccoco ( Is this a Loan IDK)
    Whickham ( Probably a gonna )
Giaccherini ( Probably out the door)
Colback - I'm praying he gets his contract sorted next week.

This is ****ing scary , and i doubt we have the talent in the development squad to fill in enough of the caps.
    So we need

    GK -1
    RB - 2
    LB - 2
    CD -1 or 2
    CM - 3 or 4
    RW - 1
    LW - 2
    CF - 1

Out of the Loanee's i would expect:
KI - Going back to the swans i reckon
Borini - Back to Italy ( although i reckon we may stand a chance. for about 8-9 million, which imo is about 4-5 too much)
    Alonso - Will sign
    Veringhi (sp?) Dunno
Celustka - i like the lad and reckon he should be signed if the price is right, but dont think Gus fancies him.

Firstly Borini is a Liverpool player mate so wont be going to Italy. Ki as you say is a Swansea player and yes both may well return to their parent clubs (thats the risk with loan deals of course) but I am sure both will also be high on the Gus hit list too.

Scocco is a 2.5 year contract.

Of the out of contract players, I expect to see Larsson, Cuellar and Gardner leave with Bardsley and Colback signing new contracts. Giacherinni and Altidore may well be allowed to leave although I give Giacherinni a second season personally and Fletchers position is under question too.

I can see Bridcutt coming this week or in the summer and also Buckley. I can also see us back in for this lad Banega (I really hope so anyway).

As for Vergini, Celustka and Alonso, I'd expect all 3 to sign full time if we stay up.

There will be other targets in the summer depending which league we are in of course. I'm not panicked at all by our current position tbh.

Gards, Larsson and Cuellar will leave when their contract expires. Colback, Bardsley, Vergini and the keeper will stay if we stop up

I'd sign 1 cm (assuming we sign Bridcutt) and 1 cb to replace those lot

Ki I think will stay if we stay up, Celuksta will prob go and hopefully we could get Alonso

With that in mind I'd sign 1 rb to replace Celuksta

Borini will probably go so 1 winger to replace him

    That would be 4

From there just 1 player to replace whoever leaves, I don't see that many leaving in the summer

Absolutely! To be honest Id rather he splash the cash now on quality signings to keep us up and then move on from there in the summer.

Got to agree with you about Celutska, the guy doesn't fill me with hope as Bardsleys cover.

I thought we missed Cattermole tonight and Bardo in the second half. Both big layers for the club. I love Colback but he seems to get so far and hit a wall. Doesn't dare try the slightly mor difficult pass (happened 3 times tonight when we had a player on the wing and he stopped to turn around with the easy ball) Cattermole has the balls to try those passes and they have been coming off for him of late. Colback played the easy ball. Get Gus working hard with him on those passes and it'd be only good for us. We need him signing though

I'm getting sick of agreeing with people too much.
I agree with everything you have said, so I have checked your grammar and spelling.
Thank God you spelt "more" and "players" wrong. :p

Can't be arsed with anymore big turnover of players in the transfer window. I would say about 4 or 5 players that will go into the first team or fight for a place in the first team. A few more youngsters with a lot of potential for the development squad too. I'm excited to watch our development system grow and see where we are at with it, in another few years, which by then will hopefully have produced a few first team players.

Also, if we can bring a couple of the best development players into the first team squad in every summer, then that will also reduce the players we need to bring in, in the transfer window, which will keep spending down too.

Soundly spoken, our Academy has produced the least number of first team squad in the prem. Season on season other teams introduce home grown players as you outline. Surely someone must come through soon, I read of the likes of CB Louis Lang but he has not had a sniff so far even though we will have a need to replace WB and JOS fairly soon.

You're right, certainly v Colback. His first few games back he was aggressive, had a go and made a difference. Against Man Ure last wednesday he was always going back or sideways until much later on and he started to run and move forwards with the ball. It made such a bloody difference to the way we pressured them. Sounds like the same last night. He has to learn to have a go and keep at it, rather than play safe all the time.

Well said and I'm with you, I've said all along that Gus will get us out of this mess and you can see the improvements game by game and there are far worse teams than us in this league. We just needed a few wins to get us going and remember, we're still not firing on all cylinders yet. Get Fletcher fit and scoring again and/or Scocco up and running and we'll be fine. Main reason for me is that we have stopped leaking goals, we were letting them in ten a penny but Brown come back and all that stopped and that is a massive difference. We now have a solid system in place which appears to be working and get those goals coming and we'll be more than fine.
I'd love to see Bridcutt signed and maybe another, Buckley possibly? if we do then I'd bet on a top 12 finish easily.

First 3 we have to sign....Ki, Alonso and Borini. They are all a class above what we have had before and have Sunderland in their hearts. After that......more quality, not quantity
