http://www.wfcforums.com/showthread.php?t=37674&page=3 Interesting views above from older fans who have maybe grown out of love with the club or maybe football in general? Do you feel the same to some extent or is your love for the Orns still there if not the greedy "average" players we hear about in the Premiership and ofcourse the money men that run this game?
I'm disillusioned with what has happened ownership wise. But on the pitch, and indeed in this season's boardroom, we're more "Watford-ish" than we have been in a decade. Primarily a youthful team. Two or three senior pros who would undoubtedly get more money if they were prepared to risk sitting on the bench for a season, and are here because they want to play. Manager, chief executive and chairman working in perfect harmony. True dressing room cameraderie and harmony: 80-odd league clubs would give anything to only have one or two unsubstantiated disagreements between manager and named players over a season. A coaching staff who understand what we're all about and are happy here. A manager who admits he has ambitions for bigger thigns, but has completely bought into and embraced the situation here. Players who are more comfortable playing proper football than any other way (even if that does have its flipside). My only expectation from Dasani is that he gives us a new patch of grass once the Saracens-Barnet thing is sorted out. Beyond that, unless he has millions of pounds that we don't know about to invest in the stadium, the less he does, the more likely it is that the feel good factor will continue. EDIT: I understand the views of others about the state of the game in general. But I feel that we are one of the highest profile English clubs to stick to the basic principles of 20-plus years ago, and long may that continue.
Thanks for that Mark ! I agree with a lot said there , I will always love WFC and will do my best to support it! However I fing myself asking should I carry on being a shirt sponsor( I cant get to many games for obvious reasons but felt the way I could support my team would be sponsorship) Due to the fact of Mr B telling us nothing!!! If I was to part with my hard earned ,how much gets to the club and the youngsters that matter and how much goes in that weasels pockets!!! I will never stop supporting watford as they are my team , my club and I just wouldnt get the same feeling anywhere else, the thrill of even watching the orns on the telly! There is still a dent in the ceiling in the living room my fists and head hit when lloydy scored! I agree that premiership has seriously degraded football as a sport and is a business primed to fleece the gullible fan!!! I agree that sky have murdered the game I agree Fifa should be disbanded or shot!! bunch of thieves all of them , all of these are taking the piss out of genuine football fans like you or I Which brings me back to my original question to sponsor or not? My head says No My heart says always!

Premiership is full of overpaid mercenaries - except at a few of the "less fashionable" clubs - but apart form that the rest is still good - even the ownership issue - I remember chants of Bonsor out and hated Jack Petchey
Mark that is an interesting thought or two. After a very long time of supporting Watford I never grow tired of watching them or reading any news about them. Ask Mme how a match day is worked around so that I can be in tune with the Hornet player. Maybe I have a different perspective to some of the younger fans now simply because I have seen the best and the worst of times. It may also be true that because I can only get to Watford occasionally, when I do make it, what a treat for me it is. I think that over the years I have grown to hope for things rather than expect them However the Premiership is a totally different kettle of fish. To be honest I really do not care two hoots about it. Last Sunday the game between Man Utd and Chelsea came on and I switched over. The standard may be better, the individuals more skillful, but then I do not have any association with them. The huge sums of money that the players demand has taken them away from the fans on the terrace/stands. I know that things have changed from the enthusiastic local man with some money putting it in to his local team, but when clubs are being used as money making enterprises for people with no love for the club or game, then I hate the results and how it can put the smaller clubs into financial trouble.
I used to like the top division when an unfashionable club could make its way up from the fourth division and get to be runners up in the top flight - could never happen today
Portsmouth vs Cardiff is proof that teams in and around the Championship can still reach the FA Cup final. Heck, we could have done it four years ago if we had drawn Blackburn instead of Man United. Once you're at Wembley, anything can happen. The chances of upsets are lower nowadays, but no amount of money can change the fact that the other eleven players are still human. Unless of course an English club signs Messi.
Stoke on Saturday? I'd probably watch a big game like the finals as they should be good but don't have Sky and only go to the pub on a Sunday if I've got not nothing else to do. As for us..well think I'd miss going to the Vic somehow but not too fussed about the away trips which not only cost money for a ticket but time and travel (I don't drive) Trouble is at the top money counts so much that managers don't get time and the players are all powerful now (just look at Mr Rooney!) You can bet now Man City will spend nearly billions in the summer whist Spurs fans call for Redknapp's head. I agree with all the issues about cheating/diving but fear they are all deep rooted unless officials really are allowed to control the games like in rugby.
i can see Stoke winning on Saturday. It's just such a shame that the FA Cup isn't the magical thing it once was. But lost interest in Watford/football? not for a second.
Love to see Stoke win - a couple of years ago we were more fashionable than them - they have done brilliantly
although whether I bother to watch it or not is a different matter.........maybe if its raining! used to be a time the whole country eagerly awaited cup final day!, Now not many care, even the smaller teams field reserve teams for cup games!
Yes - the glamour has gone - not helped some years ago when Man U decided not to enter - said what the top clubs really feel about it
They should have been forever expelled from the competition for that! Same with the England team even a couple of years ago I was quite keen, but after the SA debacle ,I couldnt care less now!
