Have you ever been in a debate that wasn't a debate, but rather it turned into a chance for you to be told that your opinion is wrong and then be lectured, as to the reasons why your basically full of ****e? Yes I thought so, there have been many on the receiving end of this phenomenon.

(and no I'm not talking about a conversation with your wife or girlfriend)

That’s right, I'm talking about being Chappazed.

You know, where you venture an opinion and all of a sudden a dark looming shape descends into the thread and bang, before you know it, your on the ropes with opinions flying in left and right, your heads reeling. Your arguments are effortlessly swatted away and discarded all in the flurry of counter arguments delivered with the blind iron faith of the fanatic.

Eventually sick of banging your head on a brick wall and being told you haven’t a clue, you peruse the other threads in the hope of having a decent conversation with other Sunderland fans, but you realize that others have also been Chappazed as you survey the wreckage of thread after thread, filled with self righteous opinions and beliefs laid down as fact.

Forced to forget an evening filled with light hearted banter and laughs with fellow forum users, you decide to have a conversation with the wife/girlfriend, because lets face it………………………………………… it’s less painful than being Chappazed.

I read the first line of this thread when I moused over the title in the main forum area, and I actually had a feeling it would be about me.

Can't really deny any of that ;) Thanks for the thread champ <ok>

The only people I've corrected today ARE:

1). A few mackems who think our squad is falling to bits and we're going to struggle.

2). One mackem who said Sessegnon could be worth £30million before not too long, then another guy who also thought it might happen.

3). A bunch of Arsenal fans who are whinging for Wenger to go before the season has even started.

Is that so unfair? I don't think so.

    But your not 'correcting' them.

You are disagreeing with their opinion, which is fine, but reap what you sow mate.

If someone thinks Sess COULD be worth £30million, it's his opinion, you can argue that he wonn't, and you'd be right most likely, but to say the person is an idiot and such is unfair.

    End.

Mate, seriously don't believe your own hype.

This is a tongue in cheek thread that banter and debate is good, but sometimes your so focused on 'correcting' people's opinions that you come across as a big prick sometimes and it's a waste of time disagreeing with you cos your ALWAYS right.

It was a joke man. Lighten up.

And I know I come across as a prick, but as I've discussed with RAWhite before, I'm okay with it.

I'm just a guy with opinions. The footballing knowledge of some of the older guys on here undoubtedly pisses all over mine, but if someone says something I think is a load of bullshit, I'll challenge them. If they can say something which proves me wrong, I'll admit it.

Funnily enough, the stuff I usually argue most about is when Sunderland fans are talking about Newcastle. I wonder why that is...

Some people don't bother to prove me wrong though. If they can't disagree or put up a good enough counter-argument they just run away and shout from a distance that I'm being a prick or something of that nature.

It's all just debate lads <ok>, and I enjoy a good footballing debate. If I ever meet any of you in person I'll buy you a pint and turn off my opinionated prick mindset for a while. I'm an okay guy really.
