Dave Whelan’s called a meeting with Martinez on Monday morning which should be very interesting, especially given that Roberto is to attend a Wigan fans forum in the evening!! There are going to be many answers expected from a lot of questions the fans have, and one of those questions will without doubt be, is one Home win since last August good enough? obviously not, and judging by the excuses Martinez was rolling out over international travel post match, of his three stars sat on the bench most of the game, I'm sure Dodgy Dave will want some answers too, but tension is going to be high in the boardroom, after thousands of lactics walking well before the game had finished, with the remainder of the fans staying to BOO their team off the pitch, oh the irony of it all!..................... please log in to view this image
Didn't make me feel good at all to see that. Glad we won the game, all though I didn't really celebrate the goals, but I hold Bobby in a good place. He is one of the main reasons we are where we are. time has been the healer for me, since he left. I hope he can turn things around.
Brought a smile to beat him but listening to him after the match brought memories back of when we worshipped the floor he walked on. Any animosity from myself dampened after the cup match last year and completely fizzled out when we were victorious today. Good luck Bobby for your push for survival, however I don't think luck will be enough I'm afraid... Wigan were poor! All said and done, thanks RM for your big part in getting us to where we are today.
I'd wouldn't want to hazard a guess where Swansea City Football Club would be had " Bobby Brown Shoes " not rode into the club . From the good deals he made for the club to the way we play to the money that came in from his & Scotland's sale , the club wouldn't be where they are today , simple . He'll be as much a hero to me as any manager .
i may be harsh but Bobby Brown, like a few others, have made their bed elsewhere and tbh they have only themselves to blame
For a while I couldn't give a **** about RM after what he did, but in all honesty, I feel so sorry for him. He's a great manager that stands by the style he got us playing. Without him, I doubt we would be where we are today. From the players he brought in, and then getting us to the Championship, I will always hold the guy in high regard. I hope to god he can turn his fortunes round and keep them up, justg so he can keep his job.
Ancient history, idolised him as a player and as our manager, didn't like the way he left us but it doesn't mater any more and i wish him no bad fortune
Martinez is one of the nicer people in football. I am one of his biggest fans, and,as others have said,Swansea City probably wouldn't be where they are now without his input, and influence. I think people should be mindful of that. As for Wigan. Well, they look a poor outfit, and will probably go down this season. Martinez would,in all likelihood, have been sacked some time ago were he not so close to his Chairman.
agree and if he does get the shove i hope he ends up with a team that can play his way naturally without having it drummed into you like Wigan i can see him going back to Spain as an assistant or reserve team coach and re-doing his apprenticeship and doing well
Can't say I'm a fan of Martinez these days, his post match interviews are all pretty much the same, and he just hasn't hacked it up at Wigan, and the fans must surely be at the end of their patience, today could well be the nail in the coffin, we'll just have to wait and see, can't say it won't bring a smile to my face though!.......................
I can't put my finger on why he hasn't done better at Wigan. He should have them doing what Swansea are doing now. Any ideas?
Schadenfreude is deeply satisfying for some but ultimately an ugly trait. Can't say I'd be sorry to see Wigan get the drop but it's nothing to do with Martinez. They have been flirting with relegation season after season and if any team has to move over for new blood then the likes of Wigan are well overdue relegation, even though they play football in a much more attractive way than, say Stoke, who I detest. Our Club owes an enormous debt of gratitude to virtually all our recent managers, from Flynn on. But Martinez was the one who brought it all together and although he dumped on us we should never forget that. Good luck Bobby. You're going to need it.
Martinez functions better with less money & more time to spend it . Seems he was made to spend bigger but quicker & it just never worked out for him . P.S. Hey Aussie , you know the difference between Martinez & Sousa ? ... After they retire & sit down to watch a Swan game , Roberto will be the one hoping for us !
couldnt have put it better myself and i actually hope they stay up because of the style of football they play - dont think they will though! btw - it would be absurd to sack a manager at this point in the season
I think Martinez leaving Wigan would be the best thing for both him and the club. At the right club I'm sure he'd be able to do a lot better than he's done at Wigan. Wigan are a poor team and there's not much that can be done with them. I'm sure Martinez will get another job very easily. He may even be back at Swansea one day.
Never say never, but I hope we never have to see him back Bangkok! BR do to a Dario Ogradi/Ferguson whilst the club flourishes will do me fine
