Since Neils dismissal i have seen no progression in our play or tactics under Hughes. We change the formation every game and today with Bolton playing 2 wide men we decide to play none!! very naive in my opinion. I am not saying change the manager again, but my point is that we are worse off than when Neil was in charge! The SIP and Barton debate will long continue and having been at the Reebok today they did nothing to change my opinion that they are very poor footballers!! Both at the end of their careers knowing that a major club will never sign them or never another international cap but the knowledge of an over priced and over length contract at QPR will keep them secure despite what division we are in. I know these were warnock signings but Hughes doesn't have to play them (or does he). The optimists will bang on about it not being over yet and that's great but realistically we have to date deserved to be in the bottom 3. The first 15 minutes were an embarrassment to premier league football today! We hoofed everything with little direction. A Bolton fan said to me ' look at Hughes body language, he is so despondent that he looks resigned to the drop'. The refereeing decision was scandalous but anyone who thinks we did enough to win the game must be mad. we must accept that we are a poor team for this standard with average players. it says a lot again when Hill was our best player!
Spot on, its a disgrace that you cannot pass a f##king ball 10 yards to another player and earn £80,000 for that.
There's certainly no discernible uptick in the quality out there on the park, despite a heavy investment in personnel. I've said it many times before on earlier threads: We rely too much on 'hit & hope'. Our first touch is appalling. We don't play possession football. There is little by way of guile and creativity. Barton cannot play a long pass or use a dead ball. With a few notable exceptions there is little heart and passion. Yeah, I think we're down, even though it isn't mathematically so yet. Oh, how I yearn for the highs of last season.
