http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-18352786 Speculating and playing devilâs advocate here but a Malaysian Company SP Setia and Sime Darby have just bought Battersea Power Station site. I base this on no more than a bit of googling and info off BBC site. I have just googled Tony Fernandes name alongside the company which bought it 'SP Setia and Sime Darby' and there are a few articles suggesting a link (though not official) Fernandes and this company. "As it is a private sale, it has not been revealed what the company plans to do with the site beyond the description of a "multi-use real estate regeneration project"." Is only 6 miles from our ground... In any case. Pretty funny that the scum got all hyped up about a new ground and are now back to square one
Interesting theory.....but im sure if we had bought it, it would state so.....as far as I can see, the plans picture doesnt have any new stadium within it. Plus £400million! Not a chance.
Not us PD. My source tells me that Cardiff City are moving there and are renaming themselves the Wandsworth City Redbirds.
It would be hilarious if it were true but Id imagine some fans will throw a wobbly if it happens as we will be moving south of the river. Its also interesting that the winning bid included them building a new tube station. £400m is loads of money but loads of that could be made back by building flats and the hotel with a river view. Plus we can easily stick the flood lights on the chimneys. They are corporate clients of Air Asia, I wonder if we could now buy the actual power station from then and use that while SPSSD invests in flats.
do you remember when one of our previous chairman owned the freehold on scumford bridge (marler estates)?????
Interesting. I doubt we are the purchasers but if TF has links, it's possible we might be able to hive off some part to build a stadium. Be interested to know what the purchasers are going to use the landmark for. Always been a bit of a white elephant
Worse news of the day. I was looking forward to the scum moving to Battersea a) so they were farther away from us, b) to end speculation of a ground share with them and c) to remove competition for any remaining prime sites for a new stadium in West London. All 3 problems are now back in play and the timing of Beard's remarks yesterday about ground share may well come back to haunt us.
You know who the vendor was? The Irish government, through it's agency NAMA which effectively seized speculative property from insolvent or impossibly indebted property companies including the 'owners' of this one Treasury Holdings. It's being challenged in the Irish courts as we speak. If you google Battersea Power Station you will find that it's been used on a number of iconic album covers including those by Hawkwind, Pink Floyd and the Beatles.
Yep agree, worked in Notting Hill for five years, if I won some serious cash I'd move there, love the gaff!!!
Yep, nice part and seriously pricey. The only downside would be the traffic on the journey south to see the r's at Battersea Power Station!
We can't seriously ever contemplate going South of the River. Never. Ever. Ever I went out with a girl from Lambeth in '86, my Mum refused to meet her and my Dad took me aside and said never 'Go South'. Wise words. I married a Northerner.
If (God forbid) we did ever move to Battersea Power Station, you'd be closer to QPR than any of us BC? You'd have to convert to the Blue & White mate
