This summer we had quite a few in and outs, and it takes quite a while working which 11 is best, which 11 you play for the big games I think we have found our best front 6 already, based on performances Suarez Bellamy Downing Lucas Gerrard Kuyt The added bonus of this formation is that is very fluid, with loads of players in it with good movemnt who like changin positions It could also become Suarez Kuyt Bellamy Lucas Gerrard Downing
We have plenty of options going forward, Carrol will also come good and be a great option in certain games.
The good thing about the 6 above is , it is very attackin, loads of movement, loads of 1/2 touch, loadsa goals, BUT they all work the bo&&ocks off defensively too, so you would get away with it
I think we should add Adam to that list of players as well - a lot of fans aren't happy with him and I dont't understand why - his job is to pass, keep possession and provide composure to the CM area. Granted - some of his passes won't come off but I think he's been decent. Hopefully Kenny can work on the 'closing down' side of his game. But all in all - the players have intelligence, good technique and Suarez, Bellamy and Downing have that bit of pace as well. It's a well balanced attack which Carroll doesn't seem to fit into.
I think Adam,Maxi,Hendo,Carroll will all feature,as these days you have to use the squad.Im just saying for the BIG games, where you need your best team out, the front 6 above is waht we should use
Maybe, then: ______Lucas______Adam Bellamy____Gerrard_____Downing __________Suarez The good thing is when one drops out, we've got players who can fit in, but who also allow us to change the system too. Adam can drop out for Spearing to become more defensive, or Gerrard could drop back and Carroll come in. There's also Maxi and Henderson to think about too, as well as Shelvey. Edit: Forgot about Dirk!
I'd like to see more of a 4-3-3 I dont think 4-4-2 has been working for us Lucas-Gerrard-Spearing Kuyt-Suarez Downing I'd like to see us closing down from the front more aswell, we seem too happy to run back into our own half once the balls lost in the last 2 games I think having the 3 staying high up the pitch might help that
I talked to Sky about this the other day and think it has to be Kuyt Downing Suarez Bellamy Gerrard Lucas (You can switch Bellamy, Downing, Suarez however you prefer) Pass and move does not work with Carroll right now, so don't play him until he wants to play that way, gets his head straight, and realizes he has not quite made it yet.
Agrred Bluff The really good sides all have attackin players who can play anywhere in the front 4 , one minute Bellamy will be up front then on the left and then on the right.Basically the front 4 play wherever they feel like at any given time, when we are in possesion, movin the defense here ther and fu^^in everywhere, the only time the formation becomes relevant is when we HAVNT got the ball. Those 4 players Bellers,Dirk,Luis and Downing can all handle this fluid system. When we havnt got the ball 442, 2 banks of 4, hard to break down
These pfront four will also work back and help defend from the front, high pressure is very effective and this will help keep the pressure off of our defense and enable us to you use the fluid movement higher up the pitch.
It's not a front 4 or 5 or 6 - it's a front 9! Kenny has continually stated that we employ a squad system. What he appears to be aiming to do is make that squad as fluid as possible. So we have no guaranteed starters - even Gerrard or Suarez
Kyut is your best striker? Agree about Carroll. Dalglish must regret spending so much on a dud. It is almost like Suarez replacing Torres with Carroll coing as a freebie (who you can discard).
Kuyt fits with what we want to play. berbatov doesn't fit how United want to play, he slows the play down. Torres (atm) doesn't really fit into how Chelsea play, this style he openly criticized. If we want to play pass and move and have fluidity, Carroll needs to stay on the bench until he can join in on what we are trying to do. Suarez is our best striker but he is better if he roams.
Carroll is looking like a joke for now but I can see him hitting some sparkling form in a year or so. Strikers often need time to adjust to a new team. He'll probably never justify the price tag but should have a decent sell-on value one day. And of course, as people have noted, he's not as expensive as Villa or Aguero because his wages are so much lower.
I think Carroll will be exactly like Berba in terms of very hit and miss, doesn't fit in with the play, but for one season might have an absolute stormer and help us win, hopefully, the league.
Reason I say that is Spearing would give much more protection to the defence, while he can join in attacks also as he showed yesterday. I actually think he could develop into an excellent defensive midfielder if given gametime (which I dont think he will be)
I was actually pretty disappointed in him last night. I'd been wondering why he couldn't make it into the team this season but he's shown me why. Hope it was just a bad game.
1. it's a waste of time talking about a 4-4-2 type formation when kenny has going 4-2-3-1 AND said gerrard was in the CAM position and thats why aquilani left!!! 2. I don't know how kuyt is in kennys first 11 when he's benched him!
