    Now that Ravel Morrison has gone to West Ham, and Pogba looks like leaving, I was wondering: Has an unknown player left United's academy as a youngster and subsequently become a very big player either in the premiership or in Europe?

    Players like Ronaldo and Pique would not count as they were too established or older.

    Peter Beardsley. Wasn't a youth player but was signed by big Ron before leaving on a free!

    Also there was David Platt who was allowed to leave on free aged 19.
