Ok, we all bemoaned the incredibley hard start the first few fixtures threw up for Saints but with almost half of the season gone have we been a bit fortunate with our home fixtures. After our next game at home to Sunderland we have played nearly all the bottom half teams at home with liverpool and QPR the only exceptions. In addition we have played winable games against Norwich currently 11th and swansea currently 8th. It just seems that our 2nd half of the season will be particularly hard - when home form is all important we have the likes of man city, chelsea, arsenal, everton, liverpool, west brom, stoke and west ham and away games against virtually all of our relegation rivals. i have every confidence we can stay up - we are scoring goals and look more solid and am sure we will add to the team in Janauary when maybe some other struggling clubs wont be able to. we are quite capable of winning some of those seemingly harder home games and picking points up away and you must win your home games against the teams around you which we have generaly done (wigan being a blip) so, currently 15th - i will be very happy with that position after 38 games. What about you - Given the fixtures to come - Higher or lower?
Actually MODS - This didnt need its own thread - can you add it to comments on DTLWS thread about current form table. cheers
I think it deserves it's own thread. You've brought up a good point RAWMOK. Our home games in the 2nd half of the season are tougher than the first half. However, there are more away games where we can realistically pick up points. I see no reason why we can't win at Villa and Reading in particular.
The first tranche of games were very hard for us and could have knocked the spirit out of some teams, but the personality of our manager didn't let that happen. We then got some winnable games and start picking up points, but lose a few to sucker punches. Again, Adkins won't let their heads go down. He believes in equilibrium. We will go into the harder games with experience and will probably pick up some valuable points. If we can get near midtable, our run out will really sort it out. Can't see us losing a lot of games against lower sides then.
