Have just been watching bargain hunt on telly, one of the couples was ex tiger Paddy Greenwood and partner. Some of the older members may remember Paddy he Joined club straight from school(Ainthorpe I believe). He made about 150 appearances in 60's and 70's. He then went to barnsley, and i believe after that to America. Unfortunately they were runners up in the programme.
Paddy Greenwood eh ? Now thats a blast from the past. Solid player though when the game was much harder. Chris Simpkin (in his playing days) was one of my heros as nobody was harder than Simps. Even Trevor Hockey of Sheffield Utd(for those who were at the battle of Bramall Lane in 1971) ran a mile.
Paddy Greenwood's brother Roy used to come on our coach trips to away matches and sometimes managed to get us free match tickets from Paddy. Paddy had a great motor but was not the best finisher. The exception was a screamer into the top corner in a relegation battle at Villa Park. This was the winner after we had been 2-0 down and goals from Waggy and Chillo drew us level, all in the last 10 minutes or so. A great away day and probably our last win there.
