I got back from my hols last Friday in eager anticipation to see how the Town were doing since the start of the new season. For the last 3 weeks I have kept away from the internet as I didn't want to know anything until I got back to Blighty! After spending the last few days reading all the posts both on here and TWTD I wish I hadn't have bothered coming back! <laugh>

The TWTD board is full of the usual OTT negative posts all blaming MM and pointing out that we have no creativity in the goal scoring department and that we will be relegation fodder again this season. I see one of the main bones of contention was when MM decided to haul Taylor off on Saturday after he came on as a Sub and that is shows poor man management on MM's part! Good grief! Have I really come back to this load of crap? I have to say that the majority of posts on here have been sensible and give a balanced reflection on how things have panned out for us so far this season.

To my mind we were unlucky not to get something at Reading on the first day, not many teams in this league will go there and get much, and the same goes for QPR. Reading some posts you would think that both of these teams tonked us when in reality we narrowly lost by tyhe odd goal. We had a good solid home win against Millwall sandwiched in between and our GD is still positive. Yes we are crying out for more goals and yes this may become a serious worry in the months ahead but while the transfer window remains open I am confident that we will get 1 striker maybe even 2 more players in.

Anyhoo its good to be back and I've got a few packs of Cuban cigars (rolled off the thighs of Cuban virgins) and a few bottles of rum to keep me company over the next few weeks! <cheers>

Good to have you back mate, hope you enjoyed your hols <ok>
As you say, twtd is the home of many moaners who hit the panic button after a couple of games but it's not been quite that bad on here. I for one still feel optimistic after giving Reading and QPR good games.
Not sure if Edwards is the answer at RW, I think we should start Anderson there next game because his deliveries into the box are so much better. People have already started on the strikers not scoring (me included) and I would like Taylor to be given a shot up top with McG.
I don't want to complain about players for having a couple of dodgy performances. It's easy to say "replace this lad" etc, like in the case of Hyam, but I'd rather give them a chance to turn the corner than freeze them out.

Far too early to get panicked, I haven't changed my outlook on this season after the 3 results, I'm still confident we'll be top half at the very least. Mick has built a Mick team, I don't know why we were expecting anything else really, we'll always be competitive as we have been against Reading and QPR, they may have probably shown more initiative and showed a bit more quality but we've been organised and only lost by the odd goal. We are doing the basics well, something we haven't done for years, I'd certainly like to see us step up from that though and be a bit more progressive/dynamic in our play.

We do lack creativity, quality and a real goal threat and unfortunately I don't see us adding any players to our squad but it is nice that we have a squad of our own players and a manager who wants to work with what he's got rather than constantly chopping and changing wanting to bring players in if they don't perform straight away
