Not more police bashing, don't think I can take it. They did their best on limited resources and not many would put their lives on the line faced with the sheer thuggery that they did. I was saddened to hear more today about the EDL connection in Eltham.
IM not police bashing they did a difficult job under circumstances but wait 2 hours for them to turn up in clapham?a lot people i know live their and whitness reports they where standing for 2 hours waiting for someone to turn up while debenhams being ransacked 2 hours?surely they could have sent the army in if no police by time they turned up the whole store had been looted every shop in the high street trashed i blame the lazy mps who decided to fxxk off on holiday what message does that send out?
It's not their decision to send in the army it's a government one. I really can't stand all this negative criticism of the police who work extremely hard, were facing missiles and bricks and are then damned if the do (police too heavily) then damned if they don't. No one could predict the scale of events and how it escalated. The problem is more not using resources like platic bullets or water canon if that could've helped, the senior commanders are the ones who refrained from this not the PCs on the ground and in the front line. Clapham was not the only area affected and people should be supporting the police and their efforts, not undermining them.
why didnt they surround the riot lot like they did in oxford street ?just surround them make em sit on floor and nick em after?
police do a brilliant job this riot was all started by copy cats police had no chance stopping it the mps should have had more balls than they showed at the time
Because their resources were very heavily stretched, did you not follow the news? Also the groups looting were able to move down side streets it wasn't a static disorder.
we left early at 4 had stone thrown at bus on way home everyone screamed hopefully everything get back to normal now police nicked a few of them yesterday it was really bad in deptford and lewisham mon and tuesday how was it near u?
