Story in one of today's Sunday papers caught my eye:-

"Blackpool have been reported to the Professional Footballers' Association for paying one of their senior players, former Manchester United winger Bojan Djordjic, just £90 a week"

Blimey, I wish their chief executive had been at Fratton Park instead of Peter Storrie, at the start of Sasha Gaydamak's spending spree ! <laugh>

Do you reckon Sol Campbell would have accepted £90.00 a week instead of the alleged £100,000 p.w. he was apparently paid by us ? :p

I like this post Wooperts - if the euro collapses they could all be playing for that kind of money!!
On a serious note, I have some admiration for Blackpool & the way they run the club.
The owner will not, in any circumstances, pay any player more than they can afford.
They operate to a very strict budget & never move outside their income projections.
Just the way any sensible business should operate - but we,re talking about football are we not

There's sensible saintsalive, and downright abusive. They do appear to have a good business model - I say appear to have, because their accounts, like all other clubs are secret, so we have to take their word that it's a good business.

I read the story and if the details were correct I am going with the abusive employer. The guy is tied into a 4 year pay as you play contract, he hasn't featured in the team so gets paid just for the time he attends training, on minimum wage that's 15 hpw. If he isn't good enough to get in the team a good employer would help him move on surely? At least pay him enough to live on. The more I think about it the shameful I think it is actually.

Where is Sol Campbell now? We could always make him the offer <laugh>

He never plays, so has plenty of time on his hands - perhaps a few shifts at the local McDonalds or Burger King ?
