Today on the Bluebirds page they go and dig up former captain Jason Perry to tell us he has voices in his head telling him that changes to the club name will be damaging http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21624957 The only rumours about the renaming are coming from BBc Wales and they keep fanning the fire ....WHY ? The keep it Blue brigade will keep throwing petrol on the fire now for sure There was a clear statement put out by Vincent Tan yesterday that the name CARDIFF CITY FOOTBALL CLUB is untouchable, but BBC Wales seem to be ignoring it. Asians are honorable people and they will very seldom lie in such a publc way Are they worried that Rugby Union will be pushed to one side if Wales have two Premier League teams ? 85% of BBC sports wales programming involves rugby so are they undermining OUR CLUB to save their jobs ? Or are they just complete to$$ers and are creating news where there is none ?
Western mail/echo are doing the same - all petrified of the damage a premiership CCFC would do to rugby interest/attendences
IMO there being driven by others, most of there news comes off certain CCFC messageboards and is nearly always linked to 1 thing
They couldn't do anymore damage to rugby attendances than regional rugby already has achieved. The towns throughout south Wales and the valleys that enjoyed competitive rugby, full attendances and well used bars, shops and restaurants most Saturday afternoons in the season are now ghost towns. As are some of the regions' stadia for Friday night televised games - otherwise known as spot the crowd!!! And I am seriously not a rugby fan but can clearly see what the move to regional rugby did for our towns 10 years ago. Overall I think there is a general trend towards putting the achievements of CCFC on the back burner in most areas of the media. Not knocking Swansea but their version of football and success has proved immensely attractive to the media as they are relatively low key, a lot of their fans (not the bu££ers on here of course) have a certain fresh faced naivety and they have attained their success in an economically sound way (compared to what they did in 2 previous lives) all of which contrasts directly with the way Cardiff City and us fans have gone about things - albeit some opinions reflect actions and attitudes no longer seen at CCS. If we succeed and get to the Prem so we compete directly with them it will be interesting to see how the media balance changes - if at all.
Exactly right. They are picking up on the poison spouted by the few with their own agendas. They then trot this out as a sensational story. Lazy journalism at its worst.
BBC 1 "did he just say he is going to change the name of the club?" BBC2 "no, he didn't actually say that he was going to, it was just an answer to a question I shot at him" BBC1 "but it could be interpreted that way , couldn't it?" BBC2 "well at a stretch I suppose it could" BBC1 "that's the headline we're looking for, go with it" I suspect they would have liked to go with the change of colour, but that was mooted when a sea of red was seen after the scarf giveaway. Rugby is the cheap option to show on TV, but with two premier sides in play(hopefully) next year they have a situation, how to keep rugby at the forefront with two welsh sides competing at the highest level in the premier. It might mean cutting back on some jollys for a few reporters and show hosts.
This is my take on them tbh. The WRU are doing a fine job of killing club rugby all on their own, they don't need football to do it for them. TBH I think the cross over of fans is minimal and few of the 'new' PL fans we'll get will have been egg chasing ST holders.
tbh guys i dont think they have an agenda, just that they are now willing to go down the tabloid route to twist things to get peoples attention. they have been doing this more and more in recent months and to think that this whole episode was born out of that misleading quote that the interviewer in question blatently dropped on tan without letting him think of an answer beforehand.
The news media, tabloid or TV, report on stories that will attract viewers or readers - that is the bottom line. Unfortunately they will not hesitate in sensationalising hearsay and reporting it as absolute truth. Have been reading the posts on the 'alleged' name change and can see no real evidence - storm in a teacup IMHO. Forget it and concentrate on enjoying auto promotion.
I agree with Swans above. Its just trying to fan some flames of hate. The best way to fight against is, will be to turn up against the Derby match, all of us dressed in red with our spanking brand new scarves around our necks. Thats unless of course the sheep on the aamb board are marching to the ground again dressed in their blue chiffon knickers behind thier beloved leaders.
I agree with swans-cartoon and others above too, but do you think our owner wants to have to keep making repeat statements to correct these mischievous rumours. Throw enough sh1t and some is gonna stick at some point - Dunno how thick skinned VT is but I'm hoping its close to the thickness of Abramovich's who doesn't give a fug about anything
Shame the media have to resort to read threads on other forums full of bitter ill informed twats with delusions of grandeur who no longer have the 'man' whispering in their ears, so ****ing sad
They seem to believe that people still follow thier every word, the scarf giveaway and how many wore them was a massive shock to thier little world.
some have said what media is all about on here>>>>>im not sure but one thing that has been missed the bbc its a corrupt ****phile ring of evil and sinister loones.....lets not blair about the bush here this is what the coporation are capable of>>>>ok slightly off the thread but still shows how sinister one can be <yakaty yak><dont look back> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mxFRigYD3s&feature=player_detailpage
The club is going through a bad patch at the moment - not on the pitch for a change but in the boardroom. Just as the Keep Cardiff Blue and rebrand issues were dying down out comes Tan with the ridiculous idea of issuing free scarves which effectively said to supporters he had wonthem over and then there was yesterday's interview. Tan, looking like a Bond villain with all but the white cat on his lap, reminded us all that CCFC is a business and as long as 75% of supporters are happy with the rebrand then so is he. He is right of course but it has upset a lot of people. The name change issue was overplayed by the media but that stirred up a hornets nest and has given fresh momentum to the rebrand rebels over on the CCMB. The BBC have done the club no favours in this regard. Many on this board, myself included, are thankful for Tan's involvement and have accepted the red shirts and the badge change but I do wish he would keep his ideas for the future under his hat until at least the the season is over. What we don't need are these distractions which might get to the players especially at this crucial time.
This board is starting to go down the route of the others. For **** sake stop all the sniping at others. We all want the same thing at the end of the day it's just how we want to get there differs. Will we ever see all Cardiff fans unite as one? Doesn't seem like it to me.
