When you look at the likes of Follow Follow and even some of the posters on here you can really begin to see that it is very true. What we're seeing today is a manifestation of all the hatred that has been generated over the past year or so and all of it directed towards Neil Lennon. This person(s) must be caught quickly and given a lengthy custodial sentence. And the Government must carry out its promise that it will tackle online bigotry and not just sweep it under the carpet like so often happens.
David Leggat is about to see his blog shut down - so i've heard, that's a good start but the rest of these oafs sites should also be binned.
Quite hunderstandably the hundreds of online sites spouting hunacceptable sectarian sentiment are hunder close scrutiny now. Hunmistakably , some of this is mishunderstood, I should like to take this opportunity to apologise , hunreservedly , for any offence caused
I used to think NI was nuts but a few months of dipping into Follow Follow every now and again tells me that Scotland has a much worse issue than us. At least the two differing sides agree that we were both out of order at one point or another - it's still all out civil cold war in Scotland.
well yes if somebody sent a bomb to me and I knew who it was I would indeed try to whack them over the head with something heavy
That made me laugh more than it should have. It's not a civil war though. This pish is one sided. Always has been, always will be. I've heard Dara O Briain call Glasgow "Belfast Light". Not any more.
Interesting take on it all in the guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/gre...ic-newspapers?commentpage=2#start-of-comments Depressingly, the comments section has an anti sectarian campaigner who hasn't a clue what he is talking about. Well intentioned, I am sure, but completely and utterly misinformed on the subject matter he is supposedly teaching kids on.
**** off you ginger ****. Some lunatic has sent parcels to a few high profile Catholics, it's hardly ****ing NI, the anus of the UK, blighted by hundreds of years of staunch and brutal warfare. This is like getting into trouble for punching someone - and the person telling you off is Peter Tobin. Take yer Irish ****e out of this country, take it and shove it up yer arse.
Roy Greenslade did comment. "@d70g, it's hard to know where to start... but how about this single revelatory anecdote? My sister-in-law started a restaurant in Glasgow. When she called in a local printer to print the menus, she selected green ink. No, said the printer, I would advise against that - don't choose either green or blue, it'll cut down your trade. Definitely not green, anyway. And I just heard the BBC's correspondent Colin Blane on The World At One talk of the long history of sectarianism in Scotland (see PhilMacGiollaBhain above on my misuse of that term). There is not a shadow of doubt, as the renewed enthusiasm among Rangers fans for singing the famine song illustrates, where the seat of the problem lies. A majoritarian population in the west of Scotland, for reasons that I admit I cannot explain, has decided to make life as unbearable as possible for people of Irish background. And please don't plead the argument that it takes two sides. There is no equality of racism here. One side is worse than the other." It's the furthest I've seen a mainstream journalist go.
How, when, where? My wife is of Irish descent and a Catholic, and she's never encountered sectarianism. My mothers sister married into Catholicism, her husband (my Uncle) runs a successful joinery business, and their son also runs a similar company without any prejudicies I'm assuming, believe me, if they did feel hard done by because of which team they support, they'd have let me know. As far as I know, perhaps I'm wrong, they only institutionalised sectarian body in Scotland, seems to be Glasgow City Council. Scotlands biggest city hasn't had a non RC Lord Provost in 40 years, when RC's supposedly make-up 30%+ of Glasgow's population. Infact, my mates Grandad was the last Rangers supporting Lord Provost. You thick ****s need to stop ****ing each other into a frenzy about some ****ing arsehole lunatic, trying to send Scotland into some sort of civil war. 'Cos that's what going to happen.
I've been to Glasgow about 100 times in my life, even in the 90's when the NI troubles were still in full flow we used to brick it when we went to Glasgow because of the knives - we don't have a knife culture in Belfast. When meeting up with the weegies as well as reading all the half arsed opinions online it's clear there are the plastic Irish who don't even have a full understanding of the politics they pretend to espouse and then you have the maniac Follow Follow crowd like Girvan which is as bad as I've seen in Belfast, only in Belfast there tends to smaller working class estates where you find these maniacs. From my experience there are a lot more of these maniacs in Glasgow, the city is three times the size of Belfast and has all the poverty associated with a huge city. When you group together a load of poorly educated people from **** backgrounds and also chuck in a bit of sectarianism I think you'll find you have a bigger problem than us, certainly in pure numbers anyway. I am not usually one to defend Belfast btw, it's a **** hole and I've been trying my best to permanently remove any link I have to the city. I've just been enough times to Glasgow to know that compared to Belfast the place scares the **** out of me
Stop being a **** then, I've stayed in and around Glasgow all my days and I've never been stabbed. And here, we don't have religous gangs, the gangs that I were involved with were always mixed, and I've stayed in Maryhill, Easterhouse, Colston and Bishopbriggs. (Gypo) Some of the comments eminating from some of the Tims, who are REVELLING in this, are right there in the same bracket with the LUNATIC who sent these parcels. Can you not see it?
Well yes it shames Rangers there are always going to be those who revel in making the other side look bad.
For instance just noticed this, http://www.arabtrust.co.uk/current/?502-sectarian-chanting and I'm reveling in it. That's it boys, no let up until they are bannned...
No, can you not see the difference??? No reasonable Celtic fan disputes we have our own element of ned fans who are the scum of the earth. We have Celtic fans who are capable as being as narrowminded and bigotted as Grivan and the likes. We'd round on them and them alone if they sent bombs to Ally or Walter though.....but even they aint that dumb - and some of them are pretty ****ing dumb
