http://www.clubcall.com/leeds-united/hatfield-leaves-leeds-1366266.html? This is a major shock if true, I thought he was the next best thing from the academy. Anyone else have any information on this?
Yea, just saw it on the official site. This has truly shocked me, everyone was likening him to Clayton in the way that he can always find himself space. Well good luck to the lad then
It's shows that Grayson isn't interested in our own youth players, he would rather bring in some jumped up average player who has been at many clubs, than give the youth players a chance.
i think he was poor in his loan spellls so the club decided if he cant cut it in the conference or L2, hes not gunna make the grade. sad but **** happens
Yea football is a tough business and theres no time to feel sorry for players. But i genuinely did feel he was gonna come through Talking of other young players though, have you guys seen we have been linked to Adam Smith, Tottenham's RB who is currently on loan at MK Dons. Here is the link: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7425012/?
Looks like a decent player, will have to keep an eye on whether anything comes of this one. Bagged 2 goals in 15 for MK Dons too.
Don't know really, just been doing a bit of scouting around the net to find out about him. At least one of the goals was described as "a superb free kick" and he was in the Sky Sports team of the week in November.
hes a midfielder so obviously Zac Thompson and Adam Clayton are favoured over him and of a similar age, let the lad go elsewhere
And yet we've got Lees, White and Thompson starting, with Taylor out on loan to get experience having been in the first team and the Turner twins and Cairns have all been given chances. At least try to back up some of your diatribe with facts next time. Hatfield seems to have been one of these who has been loaned out time after time to make his mark and never quite done it. Good luck to the lad in the future but I don't see us regretting this.
Hatfield's 20 now, no point keeping him on unless he shows signs of being at least League One standard. As it is, he's failed in both the Conference and League Two in his loan spells. Why should Grayson trust a player that's ****? Good decision if he's not producing the goods. Of course he's going to say that, he's out of work and looking!
We have seen a few acadamy kids making the first team recently, but they all can not all make it. Sad but true fact is that he missed his chance!
Bit harsh Simon. I think Logi may have it right. If the guy wasn't shining whilst on loan when others clearly are or were & we have others of a similar age in the same area, why hang on to him unnecessarily? Pity, but its a tough world. Maybe he'll do a Keogh & return on loan to us in a few years having built a career at another club.
