LJ does not want to give Engvall or Girolamo a chance mmmmmmm Andy Stockhausen @AndyStockhausen 14m14 minutes ago There has been a good deal of talk about De Girolamo going out on loan, but he is currently making a case for inclusion in the senior squad. Scored a hat - trick today against Cardiff.
Then clearly he doesn't have what it takes to make a Lee Johnson squad, 3 goals indeed - bloody showoff. Is the old boys club back at Ashton Gate?
'a good deal of talk about De Girolamo going out on loan' He may or might not, but 1 or 2 others will end up at Cheltenham. 'Is the old boys club back at Ashton Gate?' No, just the Johnson road show. He looked after me and Uncle Pete, my turn to look after him.
Just what I dreaded Redprintt and if that is the case, which I quite expected when little Lee was hired without a glance in better more experienced directions, and it will only be a matter of time, if the status quo carries on much longer, that the boo boys will be out in force.
I wonder if his lack of opportunity and Engvalls is down to the contract City have with Chelski? As I understand it Tammy is virtually guaranteed to play every game otherwise the contract elapses, therefore limiting opportunities for others. As good a player as he is, he looks like he needs a rest and it would be good to see a different pairing upfront.
I don't think so - if I remember correctly he (Tammy) came on as a sub in the first few games he played for us.....
Only the first one and the League Cup games. Of course he may be getting more game time than the others because he's the better player but you cant beat a good conspiracy theory. Fans went into meltdown when he was rested for the Hull game just think what the reaction would be if they did that in the League as well?
Abraham & Wilbraham will not be here next season therefore it is important that others are given their chance to impress.
100% agree we need two strikers,if the ones here are not good enough. Both Tammy and Wilbs will be leaving.
Well next season is 8 months away. Plenty of time yet, including a preseason. Also does that mean we need to get any Summer transfer targets in now in order to give them a chance to impress for when we need them next season? Or our youth players a go to give them a chance to impress for when they are needed in a couple of seasons?
What happens if Abraham gets a bad injury and is out for the season, or loses form? You need to know if players like Engvall and De Girolamo can cut it at championship level not in pre seasons or under 23 games. Why spend a fortune in January if you have players on board already who can do the the job?
So you would advocate weakening the team to drop Tammy just in case he gets injured later in the season which would result in us having a weakened team?
If in fact it does weaken us. Tammy has looked a little shell shocked and losing confidence since he stopped scoring, and confidence is everything for a striker at his age. Plus a little competition would maybe give him a jolt. And as you say, he won't be here next year so we must use the January window to find an attacking threat
Is he ticked off that he hasn't got the strike support he needs or does it go deeper than that? We constantly hear complaints that the so called better managers and players tend to give us a wide berth and I ask if we are seeing why that happens yet again?
I do not think with his current form that it would be a big deal. Remind me how many goals he has scored in the last ten games? The kid was never going to carry the team through the whole season and looks low on confidence and in need of a rest.
I agree it's time to rest him. He's not had a proper break now for something like two - three years. Even though resting him for a bit wont compensate this but at least help him recharge. Some of his misses last night was that bad it shows his confidence is shot at the moment.
One thing I have noticed is he is too static of late therefore easy to mark. He is not creating space for himself in the right areas. Hogan last night pulled our defence all over the place and created space for himself and others. Bottom line is, the kid is too isolated the way we are set up and has no supply.
