Hasselbaink calls on Rs fans to stay behind team after home thumping 00:12 14 September 2016 please log in to view this image The heavy loss saw Rangers slip from seventh in the table to 14th and while despondent in his post-match interview, Hasselbaink called on Rangers fans to stick behind the team after such adversity. He said: “We have lost together but we must stick together and pick ourselves up for Saturday. Obviously we are very sorry for the supporters, we have not shown our true self. “It hurts us also, it really hurts my boys. The supporters need to try and help lift them. “I will watch the video tonight because I know I will not be able to sleep. “Tomorrow morning we will back in as normal, we’ll be off on Thursday because that’s the right thing to do physically and then back in on Friday to prepare for Huddersfield on Saturday.” He continued: “It went totally wrong for us and pretty good for Newcastle. We were very stretched, it was easy for them to counter attack and get the ball behind us. “They are very dangerous when they do that. We didn’t look ourselves and it was hard to take but I must say, Newcastle are a great team with big players.” James Perch started in right midfield as Rangers set up with three centre-halves in the shape of Grant Hall, Steven Caulker and Nedum Onuoha. It was a decision which left some fans scratching their heads and Hasselbaink addressed the matter after the game. “We have new players, some who have come in and only trained a few times and on top of that we wanted more experience in midfield and Perch can offer that,” explained the Dutchman. “He can play in a few positions and we wanted protection for our defence against the likes of (Matt) Ritchie and (Yoan) Gouffran.” However, the former Newcastle man went off with a serious looking knee injury after just 18 minutes with Rangers already a goal down. “Perch going off was a big blow. I think it (the injury) is bad because he doesn’t normally go down. I think it’s his knee.” Hasselbaink revealed that some harsh truths were said in the dressing room in the wake of the embarrassing defeat. “Some honesty has been said, you have to be honest and truthful but the main thing is that we are together and we want to move on. No one wants to lose 6-0 or even 1-0,” he said frankly. “Certain things have happened which I am not happy with but it was always going to be a difficult game. We hoped it would be a lot tighter obviously.” please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
There is no questioning our dedication. Questions have to be asked (and hopefully answered) elsewhere.
Try picking a team you think can win, instead of trying to set one up to not lose at home. If you believe in them then we will follow. You clearly have issues with rational thinking Jim, as who would of thought that a team with 7 defenders would spent the whole fecking match defending. Just apologise to those who paid there "Hard Earned" money to see your footballing dreams evaporate you fool. I said I'd give Jim 10 games, but seriously, how good will the next 3 performances have to be to convince me he knows what he's doing? I think I would have to expect us to now score in the next 3 or he's toast. The Horror.
"He {Perch] can play in a few positions and we wanted protection for our defence against the likes of (Matt) Ritchie and (Yoan) Gouffran." So, not satisfied with having Henry and Cousins tripping over each other in front of the defence without actually getting close enough to Newcastle players to make a tackle, he also wanted Perch doing the same thing. That makes three center backs and three defensive midfielders. Nicely set up for a positive approach to the game Jimmy.
If he wanted defensive cover why the **** wasn't Sandro playing again ? There's dirty politics coming into play again, and when it influences picking worse players than others at your disposal, then there is only ever going to be one outcome. It's one thing when the players aren't up to it,but it's a totally different matter when the manager's team selection and tactics(or lack of them),are costing you games. It was just the total incompetence of every player, bar the goalie, who can't be blamed for having the worst defence since Derek Bentley infront of him. Any more performances like this, and the fans are going to seriously start to call for his head. I already had my ticket booked for the Huddersfield game,i'm going up there with a good deal of trepidation and fear of what transpire this time !
Sandro is not our future...Cousins is. Cousins may have learnt a lesson last night...that he would not have learnt from watching Sandro play....
SANDROS IS A MUST PLAY IF HES FIT WHILST CAULKER SHOULD NEVER BE PERMITED TO WEAR THE HOOPS AGAIN HE WAS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE
Oh, I'm behind the players, Jimmy - I think there's a good group of lads there - I'm just not behind you, mate. I don't think you have a single bit of clue what to do with formations or how to adapt when you see a Shelvey type of midfielder start to boss the game on the other side. Stop talking Jimmy and do something. Build a wall of 6 or 7 defenders for games like that, and just leave 2 up front, I don't care, just defend, FFS, don't ever let 6 goals in at HOME!!!!!!! If you can't even suss that out, then stop calling yourself a manager, because you're not.
I would suggest that Cousins would learn an enormous amount watching Sandro play. He's our best defensive midfielder and should be starting.
Not making excuses for JFH but maybe his comment: 'certain things have happened which I'm not happy about' is linked to this. has he been told Sandro can't play in the league? Maybe connected to bonuses? Can't believe he would have left him out of the squad otherwise.
