After the sale of Darren Bent in the January transfer window bringing upto 24m into the club, the arrival of Stephane Sessegnon and a top 10 finish last season on a whole last season wasn't that bad on the whole but has this summer cost us in our hopes of improving on last season esp. with another 20m coming into the club with the sale of Henderson. Last season it looked as though Brucie was trying to build a young, strong, pacey team who could move the ball from back to front pretty quickly and with the likes of Welbeck, Gyan and Bent upfront there was always going to be goals if we could get the service right. This season though I aint to sure what Brucie is trying to do with regards to our summer spending. We have improved the quality of the back four with the addition's of Brown and O'Shea but I still feel we are too light in that area but its more the lack of creativity and goals that Brucie has failed to address esp. after the losses of Bent and Welbeck and now even Gyan. It seems as though Brucie is making us into a team that is hard to beat but for a team that is looking to improve on a top 10 place that is the wrong way to look at it I think. For me we should of been building a team not thats hard to beat but a team capable of going out there and getting the 3points. This all boils down to Brucie and for me every manager's time comes firstly we had Keano who took us from the championship and kept us up then Ricky who's job it was to keep us up and he did and Brucie has established us as a premier league team. In my opinion though its time for the next step now and a manager with fresh idea's, good tactics and someone who can bring in players to take us to that next level as I think 10th is the best we can expect with Brucie as the manager.
Spot on mate, I think the main thing is that the key areas haven't been adressed. Namely left sided players. The rest of your squad is a million miles better than this time last year, but all those new players and not one natural left sider. That is I think what grinds on most.
But getting THAT manager, ain't that easy, could easily go the other way with someone else, don't forget we've had some high profile managers that didn't set the world alight...
