Has Taarabt been found out? | FootballFanCast.com Adel Taraabt had an astonishing year in the Championship last season, winning the Championship player of the year and leading QPR to Premier League promotion. Despite his amazing amount of talent, doubts still linger around the player, and so far he seems to be proving the doubters-who thought he would be found out at this level-correct. Taraabt was QPR’s hero in the Championship, his impressive statistics of 19 goals and 16 assists saw him propel the side to the top flight. He has all the talent in the world- skill, vision, technique, pace and passing, but his terrible attitude and discipline problems hold him back. You can have all the talent in the world, but that alone does not always cut it in the Premier League. He obviously has the skills, but his huge ego and terrible work ethic continually let QPR down at this level, and he is simply too brittle to succeed in this league. Even in the Championship he went missing at times during away games, and he has a tendency not to turn up in the games that matter. It isn’t hard to see why Harry Redknapp was willing to let him leave Tottenham in the first place, as he is a liability for a team at this level. His lack of teamwork and defensive play just cannot be tolerated in the Premier League, especially as he has the potential to be rendered wholly ineffective if a side manages to mark him out of the game. Neil Warnock indulged him in the Championship, but he simply can’t do that in the Premier League. Bowing to his every whim is the price QPR have paid for his mercurial talent, but his behaviour simply can’t be tolerated in this division, and his shortcomings have been immediately exposed. He has no work, or team ethic, and it has been suggested that some of his team-mates are shocked at his lack of effort on the training field, and puzzled as to why he is allowed to get away with it. The Championship suited Taraabt, but the Premier League is a huge step up, and it is one he has yet to prove he can succeed at. He could get away with giving the ball away in silly areas, and being greedy in the Championship, because he was a cut above, but in the Premier League he is just a small fish in a big pond, and he can’t afford to do that. He was anonymous at Fulham last weekend, and was hauled off at half time, much to his dismay, as he apparently left the ground during the half time break. There was a lot less pressure on him in the Championship, but this season there are a lot of expectations on him, which he has so far failed to live up to. It is a tough season for QPR, and they need steely individuals to get them through it, and Taraabt is simply not of the required mould. The arrival of Joey Barton and Shaun Wright-Phillips has seen him forced down the financial and star name pecking order, and it seems it hasn’t sat well with Taraabt. He also lost his captaincy to Joey Barton, and it seems he doesn’t like sharing the limelight with other players. He is no longer top dog and he clearly doesn’t approve. He has always had a reputation as a talented player, but sadly the negative aura surrounding him is holding him back. On his day he is a great player to watch, and he can be a match winner for QPR, but he is yet to set the Premier League alight. The next few months are really make or break for him, as we see whether he is willing to put in the effort to ensure he makes it at this level. QPR probably over-relied upon him to some extent last season, and now he really needs to step up, if he is to help them avoid the drop this season. If he isn’t prepared to adapt then he is setting himself up for failure. The top flight is a huge step up and many consistent performers in the second tier fail to carry their form on at a similar level amongst the big boys. He could be exceptional if he was to get his head down and work hard, but it just seems like that is something he is unwilling to do, and ultimately he will not succeed at this level because of it. http://www.footballfancast.com/2011/10/premiership/has-harry-redknapp-been-proved-right?
True, but that said, I think it's a bit early for this kind of article. At least get to the end of November before we judge him at this level. He has to get used to the new players around him as much as they do playing together. Still we're a fickle lot us fans, he'll be a Demi-God again when he hits the winner against Chelsea.
He has gotten his head down and worked hard this season; he has been tracking back and tackling, and has been close to scoring on several occasions. This article brings you to the toilet and locks you in. Leave our best player alone, he will come good.
O-kay... We get thumped and suddenly the world turns upside down! Up until the Fulham game, we were admiring the increasing maturity in Taarabt's game; those shots; those long searching passes; the shorter ones he didn't used to bother with; the greater work rate - even a bit of tracking back and ball winning. It was like our boy was beginning to make his mark in the top drawer. Now some burke looking for something to say, decides to revert to stereotype for a story and decides he has a 'terrible work rate... lack of teamwork... lack of defensive play... he is simply too brittle to succeed in this league... continually let(s) QPR down at this level... he has a tendency not to turn up in the games that matter... he is a liability for a team at this level... etc.. WHAT? Which season is this author in? Seems to me like some sort of time warp. A bit 2010-11 / 2011-12 on the back of two bottles of vino, MOTD and Dr Who. Huge ego? Tell us something we don't know - it's rife among the football elite. Of course there's no denying Taarabt's a prat - but he's clearly not the only one in this article is he? Why write just for the sake of it? Writing rubbish invariably tells us more about the author than the subject. 'He was anonymous at Fulham last weekend, and was hauled off at half time...'. The whole team was anonymous at Fulham last weekend - and you can't do much when you're taken off can you? Then there's, 'he has the potential to be rendered wholly ineffective if a side manages to mark him out of the game.' Come on numb nuts, think about what you're writing. Name a player who has the potential to be effective when marked out of the game? So has le Sulk been found out? Dunno - but for me, the author of this pile of tripe sure has! Terrible piece imo.
I think it will just take Taarabt time to get used to not being the biggest fish in the pond. Once he has got his head around the fact he isnt the most talented player in the league no more he will come good for you. He is a quality player but he isnt mentally good enough yet. Just takes time
AT for me best player at club and he is getting better each game . He is learning and NW is helping him through it all ... He is misquoted or even told to stir the ****e by NW as to keep QPR press profile up ... It's the modern way .... This is a story written by a crab to simply appease the doubters and whip things up ... What good is it ... I ****ing hate these parasites writers who at the end of the day are making money out of words no other reason ... It's open market for so called new media bitches as it's instant At least the red top sales are falling off Who wants yesterday news no one we all want our say and it's easy to start a fire by writing something to provoke reaction . Adel should be IMO paid as much as he wants to show off our good football ... There is none like him He does things with the ball that at times are too good for the premiership he can only get better as he learns he is strong combined with skill and is fouled most times . His culture is not the same as ours on this ****ty little island it's more south of France and is no better or no worse than ours but I know which I prefer ... We have lost so much it's sad Adel I hope will stay and be a part of QPR if not then I wish him well as he is such a talent on the ball ... Off the ball no of us know really it's guess work and rubbish ... He is certainly above SWP, JB , JB ,DJ in terms of performances so far Faurlin and Derry along with Adel make my top three so far Paddy Young Anton and the underrated Tommy Smith make up the next batch I expect Mackie and HH to make big contributions soon HH already got us one point Tommy three Akos will also put in a shift as will Fitz This silly bitch will be forced to set her words except by then she will be writing ****e about another nothing story about nothing and eating out in the River Cafe where I watch them talk ****e see the same crowd as Sadlers wells ... Parasites burn them all
The author of that article is Lauren Rutter Maybe that is a nom de plume. Or a bit of Daily Mail banter.
I will track her down and question her about this ... What's the betting she can't remember or passes it off as simple editorial that she had to write to fulfill her new media obligation in her contract . She needs stuffing like a Fois Gras Goose but not with maize I suggest she is force fed cheesy strings along with 20 pints of Irish Guiness and two tins of shake and vac They will make her see sense
Poppycock! Is there a player in the league who can rip defences apart week in week out? No. There are good games and bad games. Taarabt won't take the pee like he did last year but he can be and has been effective in the EPL. P.s. He is a prick, though.
In the CAF, Morocco vs. Tanzania (now 2-1), Adel just scored a beauty from a free kick, hugged the coach, then quite happily was substituted. Hopefully this will boost his confidence level and he can repeat this feat back home vs. Blackburn.
Morocco vs. Tanzania - BBC blog posts on Adel - he pairs up well with his friend Maroune Chamakh! 1917 So no surprise to see that Adel Taarabt is on the bench after his behaviour back in June. The QPR midfielder walked out after learning he would be on the bench for the qualifier against Algeria. What chance a repeat performance tonight?! Morocco coach Eric Gerets does have options on the bench, not just Taarabt but the firepower of Youssef El Arabi as well. 1925 Breaking news. After all, Taarabt does make the line-up! Youssef Hadji injures himself in the warm-up, meaning the wayward star is in the line up. This now gives him the perfect chance to make amends for his previous behaviour. An estimated 45,000 people are inside the Marrakech Stadium for this game. Fantastic atmosphere inside the stadium according to Moroccan sports reporter Hakim Ghazaoui. 1939 Morocco have wasted two fine opportunities to score in the opening exchanges. In the very first minute, Adel Taarabt is one-on-one with the Tanzania goalkeeper but can't finish. The same scenario plays out three minutes but this time M'bark Boussoufa is the guilty man for Morocco. 1955 GOAL! Morocco 1-0 Tanzania. Maroune Chamakh, on his return from suspension, heads home a cross from the left. 2008 Morocco are piling on the pressure in Marrakech - but they're still only 1-0 up against Tanzania. Adel Taarabt is the man of the match so far, according to our reporter watching the game - and he wasn't even supposed to start (see 1925 entry). He has missed a number of chances though.... 2059 GOAL!Morocco regain the lead when Taarabt steps up to fire home a stunning free-kick after 68 minutes. The midfielder shows his gratitude to coach Eric Gerets by running over to kiss the Belgian. Taarabt - back in the squad after Gerets forgave him his walk-out in June - has deserved his goal for his stellar display. He promised a performance to make up for his previous antics and he has delivered. As it stands, Morocco are going through to the Nations Cup as Group D winners - as are Sudan, as one of the best runners-up. 2104 Are Nabil's affiliations in any doubt? 'TARAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' he emails. 2108 Morocco fan Aziz is back in touch. 'Goooooooooooal!!!!!! World-class goal from a world-class player. Aziz - an Atlas Lion!' I think we can say that at least one Moroccan has forgiven Taarabt for his walk-out back in June. Lest we forget, Taarabt quit the camp in June when learning he would not start the qualifier against Algeria. Today, he was due to start on the bench but earned his starting place when Youssef Hadji injured himself in the warm-up. And now, to the scriptwriters' delight, Taarabt is the man leading Morocco back to the Nations Cup. Should they get there, they could pose a challenge. 2122 GOAL! Morocco 3-1 Tanzania. Game, set and match. Russia-based M'Bark Boussoufa fires home from 20 yards to wrap up the Atlas Lions' qualification. Joyous fans inside the Marrakech arena are making a lot of noise. Tanzania's intensity has plummeted.
I'm delighted for him; Warnock will be practising his hugs now to be ready for his premiership openers. He's going to prove his detractors wrong and make them join his fan club.
Now I know you're away with the fairies. You couldn't rely on these two clowns in a Sunday Pub game. When the fu*k has Buzacky ever put in a shift? And as for Fitz Hall, did you see the Fulham game?!! C'mon Oddball, we all love ye but give us something would ye?
So right Brixton! I doubt whoever wrote that new a football from a toilet bowl, and it's not good enough for toilet paper. Great Adel scored tomigt- he more than deserved it after the aluminium bashing he's had with us.
