I listened to a lot of people damning our Spanish contingent towards the end of last season. I ask you all is our squad stronger now or weaker than where we were last year. My own opinion is that i believe that overall we do not have the strebgth in depth that we did have. Please don't make this a ML V GM monk thing with no bitching, just a straightforward question and reasons why.
I actually think it's stronger, but Cannas, Poz, would not give us anything better and Hernandez was back and for the treatment bench and Chico was unpredictable bit like shelvey, which is a shame because he could defend well when he wanted, and good going forward to, but it's no good looking back, and I actually think we are stronger, but we don't seem to be playing as a team and for each other, and that has got to be down to the manager, is Monk a good motivator?...........
Phil my answer to whether GM is a good motivator is this, in the early days yes because we probably needed a change and players had become a bit stale but as time has gone on that feel good factor under him has gone and now he is struggling to motivate our team and we have that same stale feeling we experienced last season..
Personally, we have upgraded on all of the players we got rid of last season. The trouble is, that we ONLY replaced those we sold. We still needed a further 3-4 players on top of what we brought in last summer. Of course as it stands at present, I'd say we need a new back up keeper, 2 wingers, 2 strikers (Gomis I think will leave in the summer) and more importantly at least one proper DCM player. The starting 11 is strong, but the squad needs some serious surgery in the summer imo.
Are we seeing that there's a growing feeling amongst fans that Monk is not the man to take us forward ?
Or, it could be all our injured players, bar Michu, came back to fitness and we went out of two cups in rapid succession.
Comparing Chico with Shelvey isn't just wrong it's insulting. Chico ALWAYS gave 100%. Shelvey? Chico - some dodgy cards - Shelvey expect a regular stream Chico was one of the best Premier League players in his position. Chico skilful ball player - Shelvey - hit and hope merchant Chico was a team player - Shelvey couldn't give one
Never mind about Chelsea being the worst game Gary Monk has seen the Swans play. Today entered a new level at Blackburn! We were clueless, no passion, no ideas. We scored a great goal but after that we were awful. The Blackburn crowd was terrible, until they went ahead. After which we got a right roasting from them.
Not sure really when you put names down , we've lost De- Guzman , Canas , Pozuelo , Vorm , Davies, Michu, Bony ,Henandez. Flores. We've gained a better keeper in Fab , Fed not sure, he still doesn't inspire me Amat , good before his enforced absence Bartley . way off the finished article Teindalli , why did we pay so much for squad player at best. Carroll good but will get better way Montero , very good but is he susceptible to injuries due to his pace . Siggy , hot and cold at the moment Gomis ball control for a big man is very good but not a patch on Bony in professionalism or in talent . Taylor getting some sort of improvement in form Knaughton ?? has to be quicker than Rangel now but not as experienced .Just hope he can jump Shelvey , does nothing for me sorry to say .
Chico called our physio, Kate Rhys, fat, then threw a chair at Monk when he defended her (as he should as club captain), then after being sent home came back and waited outside with a brick to batter Monk with. I know because, as I mentioned last night, I'm best mates with Jazz's cousin who's also on texting terms with Dyer and Ash. The story is from the horse's mouth. The guy was a loose cannon. He would never ever have been in Monk's long term plans after this episode. I'm surprised Chico wasn't sacked on the spot. On Shelvey, all your comments are correct.
CaƱas and Pozuelo were also ****-stirrers in training and were both told they'd never play again. Despite what anyone says, most of these Spanish players were disruptive influences who didn't give a **** about Swansea, just about Laudrup. Had we kept Laudrup, he probably would have moved on in the Summer (as was the general acceptance of what would happen at the time) and most of these Spanish players wouldn't have been here anyway as they only realistically wanted to play for Laudrup. Our squad wasn't great last year, highlighted by how poorly we performed after a few injuries. At the start of the season our squad seemed to look better. But half way through, it's clear that we still have a squad that, when battered and bruised, still falls apart. Many of our poorest performances have come from Monk playing players out of position and not being proactive enough in his pitch-side management. While I disagree with those who fiercely seem to oppose everything Monk does (or even seems to do i.e. papertalk), until he starts to rectify these simple, recurring errors of his, he'll continue to be under tight scrutiny. As with most things in football, Monk needs to go back to basics. Play players in position - no more experiments.
Fabianski Rangel Fed Ash Taylor Ki Leon/Caroll Gylfi Montero Dyer/Routledge Bony. This would have been our best line up at the start of January. For me, none of ML players would get in this side. Of course, as I have said, we urgently now need to replace Bony, and require another 4-5 players given the poor performances of some this season.
I cant make you believe anything, so believe whatever you need to that falls in line with how you want to think. But I've told you what happened now. Believe whatever you want. I don't exactly have a history with starting false rumours on here, or even rumours at all.
Because nobody wanted to deal with the embarrassment of his rolling-around-like-he's-been-shot antics.
