Ive seen a few posts were people keep saying our forward line has taken a step back but apart from Bent i disagree. Ive took these stats from their best one season for sunderland. Obviously in DG and SF case they havent had a year yet so ive used their best season for wolves and swansea respectively. Bent - 2009/10 - 38 games, 24 goals Gyan 2010/11 - 31 games, 10 goals Welbeck 2010/11 - 26 games, 6 goals (his best season for man utd was 2011/12 - 30 games, 9 goals) Steven Fletcher - 2011/12 (Wolves) - 32 games, 12 goals Danny Graham - 2011/12 (Swansea) - 36 ganes, 12 goals Connor Wickham - 2011/12 - 16 games, 1 goal Now i know their is loads of other external factors, such as connor being potential, injuries, form, selection, etc, but on paper it doesnt look as bad as people keep making out.
Now that it's done, and putting the Mag thing aside, unquestionably, and beyond dispute, is that Danny Graham is a very decent player. £5million for a goalscorer who has more than held his own in the Premier League looks fine to me, and he won't disappear (Gyan) or sulk (Bent) or return to his parent club (Welbeck). If this means a 4-4-2, it could be a magic signing. DG-Super Fletch Sess Catts Big Alb AJ Looks good to me, people may say the CM is a wee bit defensive, but AND is box-to-box, and the creativity & quality from the wide 2 is potentially exceptional.
On pure stats..you would have to say yes...but lets see in the next month or two how MoN plays these two together..then compare the stats
cracking that, its the threat of injury thats the worry i think mate, the what if? martin is building for the long term, i see him being here for 20 years
