Has Mourinho's criticism of Blue's strikers heightened their goalscoring profligacy?

After watching Chelsea play at Swansea this weekend it was evident that while Chelsea are creating lots of chances in matches, however they are failing to capitalise on this and have been somewhat wasteful in front of goal. It has been hotly debated as to why Chelsea strikers Torres, Ba and Eto'o have not scored as many goals as expected with Blues' boss Jose Mourinho claiming that he lack options upfront. He [Mourinho] has publicly criticised Torres' poor scoring form and disparaging remarks about Eto'o have been divulged to the media, therefore I cannot help but wonder if his comments have exacerbated the situation and demoralised Chelsea's strikeforce further, which is indeed a significant problem with top scorer midfielder Eden Hazard currently out injured.

It was well publicised that Mourinho fell out with a lot of players towards the end of his stint at the Bernabeu, so has his continual criticism of your teams strikers had a detrimental effect on your sides goal scoring ability and win trophies this season and raised questions about Mourinho's man management?

Would be really interested to hear your opinions :).

    No.

Now and again you get a lucky deflection. Chelsea have been fortunate to have a couple in quick succession. This is because of a combination of
    1. your best player (Hazard) has not being available so you try more desperate balls, and
    2. pure luck.

If you want to believe Jose has a magical ability to speak ****e and then goalkeepers/defenders **** up the so be it though <ok>

The strikers weren't scoring anyway so Jose rightly critcised them, it couldn't really get any worse so he tried to motivate them but unfortunately they seem to have stayed at the same level! Fortunately our Defence is usually solid so it does only take a "lucky deflection" to score a goal as we're quite good at keeping teams out.

Tricky question. On the one hand it is only Joses man management skills keeping us up there, especially in the big games. We are certainly not playing great football, we have zero strike force apart from an occassional flourish, and our midfield is all over the place as well. The back 4 have been very consistent and Cech has often been poor. To roll PSG was just guts and determination, and thats Jose at his best.
As for the strikers, blagging players seldom has better results than support and encouragement. Ours have had plenty of both, and buggered if I can see which works best. I'll just settle for Torres being unsaveable, Eto'o just past his best and Ba looking the most likely.

Sometimes I wonder if the potent strike force that is our midfield (Hazard,Lampard,Oscar,Willian etc) and strike hungry defenders (JT and Branna) sometimes leaves our nominated striker out in the cold! We know that Nando is now past it as a striker and E'too is just passing through, but Ba looks like he could become a half decent given a run! No doubt about the fact we have to look very closely at a class striker for next year and not necessarily go out and spend a fortune, but find someone who fits our style of play!

Thats it in a nutshell BM2,Ba does look as if he has something to give and is the one I would keep. Costa looks more and more likely too, and I'd love to see lukaku as our 3rd. All 3 are different types. As good as Azpi has been, I suspect Cole at left back would have put more chances in for our strikers being a left footer. Ivan has done his bit from the right. We are still a bit lopsided back to front for mine, especially if Rambo or Lamps is beside Matic, the midfield seems to get a tad muddled.

If you want to talk about luck, how about Suarez not being sent off yesterday or Liverpool not conceding a last minute penalty. Playing well but getting all the decisions too.

Sturridge one the ball was won. Referee was right on it.

Suarez one was a pen but 1. Should have already gone 2. Flinging himself to the ground at the faintest touch did him no favours.

Most obvious pen was Sakho on Dzeko.

Doesn't matter if you win the ball when you go through the opponent to get to it <ok>

It used to matter, in days of old some contact was fine as long as it was obvious the player was playing the ball and won it.
Nowadays the slightest touch and the player goes down like Willem Defoe in Platoon.
Just the pussy culture in todays game (and every club is guity of it, including ours, Im looking at you Oscar!!)
