My understanding is that since 9/11, there has been increased media focus on Islam As a result more people have looked into it and have 'converted' In the UK alone i think there were stats saying something like approximately 5000 converts a year since 2001 The american converts have also increased which is opposite of what should have happened Its weird but figures show that in 2005 96000 muslims became permanent residents in the USA. which is more than in any year in the previous 2 decades the biggest percentage rise in converts has been in germany, I think I once read
